Hi there, just spend most of my summer holiday building a racing simulator, I am stil waiting on the motors to arrive here in Belgium coming from Canada but the project is coming along really good I think.
eventually it wil be a 4? dof shoulder mount full frame with slide and traction loss
I already found so much info here on the forum and its a great place to be !! very helpful people here too.
Hope my englisch is good enough.
OK, pictures say more than words, any question, suggestion or thought is very welcome.

I am gonna use wormgear motors, cos i think that will have less sound and is powerfull enough.

Hi @Al.Bundy, nice construction. I see you have wheels on your base frame. These really have to be lockable, for the traction loss motion will move the whole structure around the room if they're not! My sim gets moved and the base isn't sitting on wheels!
    Again, nice job. :thumbs

Vi faccio i miei complimenti a te e SeatTime per l'ottimo lavoro.;)

Already for a long time I thought I had had the idea of sled acceleration and braking and turn the news on the forum :(and on the other hand this is the second project that I see made :grin:grin:grin oh well it means that my idea was good and functional. In fact my next sim will be 4 DOF. Let me give you my compliments to you and SeatTime for the excellent work.:thumbs

Ok, you've done well and why, and a great project. :thumbs
We all take cues from others, as I did too, the idea for the sled acceleration and braking, I got it from an old post
http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/the-feelfx-motion-system-project.604/#post-5353 ;) soon as I saw that picture and immediately I became convinced that the move was the right one !! and the next project would have built with that principle.

No problems? Just interested in someone who has built a similar sim. You will enjoy it.

Hello sim builders ! Here some new pics and updates to my simulator, finally I recieved my motors from Canada and my JRK,s to bad I had to pay about 150 euro for the taxes......grrrrr wish i ordered 4 in the first place and not 3 but thats the price I pay for changing my mind all the time I guess.
Anyway, i made some changes like replaced the wheels by lockable ones so it will stay in the room where I put it, also painted the frame, placed the pots and connected them with some rubber hose to the motors, i think this will prevent them from breaking, also the alluminium will vibrate along with the motors.
I made a chain drive for the slide and also the traction loss frame with some sort of tensioner, in the pics its not connected because i need to take the whole simulator apart to bring it upstairs for final wiring and testing once my fourth motor and JRK arives.
I really hope setting up the jrk,s and the simtools will work out fine cos I am more handy with tools than with solving computer problems.......but i am still confident I will have a working simulator soon.....
    Happy building to all !!!

Hi @Al.Bundy, that's a nice looking rig you're making. don't worry about the jrks, they're very straightforward to set up.

image.jpg Small update again.... Moved the sim to my room upstairs, fitted the seat, pedals and steering, setting up the JRK,s, found out my gears for slide and traction loss both slip.... Huge learning curve for me...slowly finding out how the JRK,s work...
Put a box with bricks on the seat to load up the motors..
Downloaded simtools not knowing the plugins also cost 10 coins each grrrrrr did not know that ,out of coins now.....
Anyway really busy and trying hard to get the sim work.
Wish I could have some standard settings to let my slide work and also my traction loss, do not seem to understand what surge roll pitch and all means cos english is not my language, i wish the was a picture explaining all those movements......
    help is allways apreciated.

Thanks Robbie, Thats what I need, gonna print that right away ! I also found a few pics in the FAQ duhh....
    http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/dof-angles-forces.15/
So the traction loss is only sway ???
The sliding to the front and back while accelerating or braking is surge ???
Maybe a silly question but i see in another post that the rear seat connections will handle the roll and pitch.....? What about yaw then...
Just trying to figure out how to make the sim work like a racing car...
Think I am going to sleep over it again, too many questions popping up all the time hahahaha. ;)

Going up and down hills is pitch & heave. The angle of the hill is pitch and the elevation of the hill is heave.
