    Thanks again @BlazinH.

    Your description does match my understanding of washout use...to fool the brain into thinking a sim DOF is greater than reality. As there are a range of different washout algorithms do you know what has been implemented in SimTools?

    Once @value1's has the time I am looking forward to experimenting with his wizardry. If it is possible to control and smooth the transition then with the Rift giving visual motion cues and the buttkicker and some SimTool tweaking for a little noise at the transfer point, immersion should be maintained, at least in the sense that car drift is a similar but much easier perception trick in a 2DOF sim.

    All I know about simtools washout is from this description.
    But I believe I found the variable name in Prepar3d’s Simconnect SDK to get the values we are looking for. @value1 should know how to implement this when he finds the time. It appears to be the same for FSX also.

    STRUCT BODY ROTATION VELOCITY
    The body rotation velocity. Individual body rotation values are in the Aircraft Position and Speed section.
    SIMCONNECT_DATA_XYZ structure, radians per second

    struct SIMCONNECT_DATA_XYZ
    {
    double x;
    double y;
    double z;
    };

    Thanks so much for taking the time to pin the variable down @BlazinH

    SO question on the motors and the JRK 12v12....Right now I'm using 2 wiper motors and 2 jrks and 2 server power supplies.......Can the JRK's run this motor?

    The postie just delivered the new graphics card, my existing Nvidia 660 will go to my father and I can set up my old DK1 for him. I will have to dig out all my old DK1 tweaks.

    Back in bits again...I spend way more time fiddling with stuff than I do using it!

    I have been playing around with plugging my portable PA speakers into the sim's on-board sound system, which can drive them just fine, along with an old baby amp I had lying around to manage those and the Buttkicker. I am also trying to simplify some of the wiring tangle into some key looms.

    I did try mounting the Rift tracking camera on the roof but the cables are just a bit too sort and at this stage I don't want to add extensions. I will need to reconsider when my VR Omni treadmill arrives, as the tracking camera will need to service the Omni and the sim.

    I really should take it completely to bits and install the new cables that connect the internal USB hub to the post mounted USB outlets, which are there to allow for easily changing controllers. However, I am itching to try out some of @value1's new plugins, plus I plan building a pull out tray for the JRKs to allow for easy service access, so will wait until I do that. Time to put it back together again!

    I started with 25:1 hollow shaft motors and used threaded rod, just be aware the motor shaft can be either 12mm or 1/2 inch, so measure it to be sure. I could have simplified the pot side of the shafts if I had used a correct sized flexible coupling: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/dx-racer-compact-simulator.5866/page-3#post-63105

    The 60:1 I have now are solid shafts and I have far more robust keywayed located arms: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/dx-racer-compact-simulator.5866/page-5#post-65721

    I have been rearranging my sim room. That includes messing with extending the Rift cables, something I have put off for a while but which I need to have sorted for when the Omni joins the simulator.

    It is still not great in terms of trying to capture video, but here is a long splice of experimenting with profiles in Assetto Corsa, where the first half is for use with my 3D projector and the second half is for the Rift. The one for the projector is for fun and the one for the Rift is more about 'presence' than outright motion. the video is about 11 minutes long, as I just joined 2 videos, so just pick a couple of random spots if you are at all interested in the differences.

    Just curious, @noorbeast , when you finish your drive you press a glowing button on the steering wheel and your seat seems to "centre" Is that a kill switch you have installed or something that comes with the wheel?

    It is just the wheel on/off button, the seat centers when you leave the game and go to the menu.

    Thanks @GIB SimRacing.

    It is still an evolving work in progress and I am a bit snowed under with other things at the moment, but I will get back to developing my sim further. At the moment it is just plain fun to mess around with motion and the Rift.

    I wish I had the patience to put something like this together, in terms of attention to detail, forward thinking and ergonomics.
    I like the way you have mounted the pedals and wheels, It saves materials, leaves room for a screen to be placed directly in front of the sim (in my case) and best of all it reduces the overall weight of the sim!
    Methinks ill have to build an MK2 and copy your designs. My sim grows in size and the wife's frown also grows.
