Hello i´m on my 2DOF Sim project.
I already have a G25 Racing Wheel, but i want a Racing wheel with more buttons and in a GT3 or Formula racecarwheel look.

Can anybody give me advises which steering wheel is cheap and better then a logitech and how i can make my own Racing wheel?

    Thanks :thumbs

Building your own wheel should not be a problem. I regularly come across old gaming wheels at local recycling at municipal rubbish dumps. These wheels, like the Mad Catz wheel I picked up could easily be augmented with extra functions and buttons, and controlled with a Teensy microcontroller which is easily programmed using Arduino software.

The problem is if you want Force Feedback you have just added a lot of complexity. Even though I have a new G29 wheel which I love, I have several other wheels with and without FFB and I am tinkering with them to learn about FFB.

By the way, although I cut up the Mad Catz wheel for the sequential shifter and threw away the steering wheel I kept the mounting for the steering column with the intention of re-using it.

i have searching the web for nice tutorials about doing your own wheel from the ground up and it may not be that hard if... if you have acces to a metal laser cutter (wich is not that rare) or if you have acces to a steel shop that can bend tubes. :D

    - and as @iWill said, if you whant force feedback that is another issue :D for what i have seen, force feedback in a wheel is almost as hard as making a whole sim. i just dont know if it could be a better option to just buy a ffb wheel)

if you do so, please keep posting
