I struck a problem with one of the JRKs when reassembling my sim with the new 60:1 gearboxes. One motor went fine. On the other when you hit test motor direction it creates the attached error, which crashes the JRK utility. It seems to be a usb interrupt/disconnect.

Here seems to suggest a motor noise issue, but has anyone struck that with motion dynamic motors?: http://forum.pololu.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=4754

What I have tried so far.

    changed motors
    changed usb cords
    changed pot and pot wires
resoldered the JRK wire connector block pins
rechecked proper wire seating in connector block

Things I have yet to try:

    different PSU
    uninstall and re-install JRK utility/drivers

Anyone got any other troubleshooting ideas, as I am starting to think it is a JRK fault?

Weird one, I have never come across that as far as I can remember.
Have you checked what errors are enabled in the Error tab.
I have set up 60:1 boxes with no probs.
Try a re-install of jrk drivers and try reset the firmware on the jrk itself.
I will think more about it tomorrow
    Dave.

Thanks @bsft I will add the firmware reset to the todo list. It takes a bit to do a setup with the 60:1s but I will try and make a bit of time in the morning to redo the drivers and firmware then do the JRK config yet again. The other JRK/motor setup went fine, no problems at all. The problem motor judders loudly then the JRK dies. If I skip the motor direction setting and try the slider it will throw a motor drive error and the chip heats up very quickly.

I have a similar issue also. I have one side that acts like it looses the data coming from the game. It usually happens on Dirt 3 but it also happens on Dirt 2. I have tried turning the output down to 98%, which helps but doesn't solve it. I've changed pots numerous times. I've even changed the jrk out with a different one and same thing. I'm on a fresh install of windows 7 64bit (i5, hd5870, 8gb mem). I thought that it was maybe a power supply but I don't loose the signal mid race, I always loose it in between races (like a 3 race series or something similar). I'm thinking its either the usb cable or a setting that I'm overlooking. I've been just dealing with it up until now but it's annoying when I just want to race for a while and then have to reboot because I loose data in-between races.

was the JRK working in the first place? Is this the first time you have booted it up? By chance , do you have a 2nd PC you can run the JRKS through.

Whats the settings in utility, can you post up all screen shots of the troublesome JRK.
Also @noorbeast can you do the same?

This is my spare JRK and I have never used it before, the original one had the usb cage break away from the board when it was being rewired up. I am going to do a JRK firmware and driver update now so will post the outcome and pictures.

No joy, after re-installing the JRK software and doing a firmware update the JRK now looses the usb light as soon as the power is switched on, even before you run the motor :(

The one thing I don't have at the moment is time to fiddle with it as I am busy all through December. Guess I will declare this one dead and contact Pololu.
