Because my fix is a hacky workaround I think it is better to leave it until @value1 or someone else creates the proper plugin. At least we know that ATS can use the same plugin as ETS2.

Yes, that is all that you need to do but I don't know how to do that. I had a look in the plugin zip file and their is only the game image, min/max file and the plugin DLL so I am guessing that all the exe info is included in the DLL itself.

Download a decompiler, look in the input section, make the changes there. Look for process name

Hmmmpf So I tried and I failed miserably.

I can see what I need to change but I get errors on some other stuff. I am not a good programmer, I could maybe fudge my way through it but I would probably just end up butchering all the hard work that @value1 and @yobuddy have done on the plugin.

I think it is best to leave it to the experts, in the mean time you can use my dodgy workaround. I am sure the plugin geniuses will have no problem modifying the old ETS2 plugin to work with ATS. It is just a matter of changing the process name and copying the plugin to the ..\bin\win_x64\Plugins folder but it is above my skill level.

P.S Mad respect to all you programmers, I could never do what you guys do, that is why I stick to hardware and networks :)

I'd like to have motion in American Truck Simulator
    http://store.steampowered.com/app/270880/
    (there's also a demo version)

I haven't already tried using Euro Truck Simulator plugin, maybe it works with little effort

Yeah, it works with the ETS2 plugin. You just need to trick Simtools into thinking that ETS2 is running by using a dummy Exe.

I have more detail in post 2 up from your post. If you want help getting it running then give me a PM and I will talk you through it.

Thanks anyway, you did what I'd have done

I wonder if Game Stock Car plugin would work? The engine is the same (RFactor IMSI) with slightly different models. It really isn't a new game it is more like what SCS did with American Truck Simulator.

I tested it the other night with the SimXperience SimCommander plugin and their GSC plugin worked fine with Automobilista.

I tried it with SimTools and I get a .Net error, the plugin itself should work because nothing has changed on the telemetry side of things but I think there is something else causing it, my normal "Dummy" exe trick isn't working for some reason. I will test it again tonight.

By Dummy exe trick do you mean renaming Automobilista.exe (or whatever its named) to GSC.exe. If the game stock car plugin is going to have a chance of working it has to think it's actually running GSC.exe

Sort of, what I do is copy and rename something like CMD.EXE to GSC.EXE and then launch GSC.EXE (Because it is really CMD.EXE it just opens a dos window and stays open) so Sim Tools thinks that Game Stock Car is running so it will start listening. Then you run Automobilista as normal and it should work. I have used this for new codemasters games and American Truck simulator and it usually works.

Do as you did renaming GSC.exe then try doing it as I suggested and see it that works or not.

Edit:I didn't pay attention to the fact that you're already starting gsc with the cmd.exe so obviously starting it again like I asked you to try wont do anything.

I get the same .Net error if I rename AMS.exe to GSC.exe then launch the game.

Hi guys Got Automobilista working with motion

used @Avenga76 idea heres what i did

in the Automobilista folder renamed AMS.exe to GSC.exe patched game with GameStockCar_plugin in the normal way then renamed the exe back to AMS.exe
then found a cmd.exe copied to desktop renamed it GSC.exe run it then started automobilista and bingo motion

    @Historiker @BlazinH

Edit this works really well from a profile editing point of view to as you can stay in game close the fake exe make axis changes and start fake exe again thanks @Avenga76 for the idea
