Asseto Corsa VR support is not likely any time soon, the following is from the just released dev notes: http://www.assettocorsa.net/assetto-corsa-v1-5-dev-diary-part-33/

"Let us say a few words about VR, which is an open and quite talked-about issue at the moment. As you know, Kunos Simulazioni has been supporting the Oculus Rift since the release of the very first kit, and the American company also chose Assetto Corsa for its events thanks to the immersion achieved by Assetto Corsa with its products, up to the DevKit 2. The third time around, the SDK provided by the company to support its device was radically changed, and we simply cannot update the code in Assetto Corsa every time this happens; we need to completely rewrite the dedicated rendering structure. That’s not easy or cheap, as you could probably imagine.

Although the retail version of Oculus Rift is finally available, at the moment our core team is focused on the submission and release of Assetto Corsa for consoles, which at the same time brings a huge update for the PC version with the 1.5 build thanks to the fact that part of the code is shared between the platforms. Since working on Oculus support requires us to allocate extra time and resources – because of its complexity it cannot be managed easily or in a few days – we will have to take a moment and consider when our current development schedule will allow us to do so, but realistically not before this summer. Our aim is to support VR – and not necessarily only the Oculus Rift – when we will be able to take the time and resources required.
We fully understand that people who have invested in the purchase of a VR device want to use it as much as possible, and we know that Assetto Corsa guaranteed a ton of fun with the Oculus SDK2 (that could only be better with the retail version), therefore we promise that we will take the time to evaluate the option of creating proper VR support in harmony with other tasks and priorities that we have already scheduled".

It does mean AC is dead in the water as far as VR goes.

For now LFS and Pcars are the best VR options, though the Pcar devs have not yet pushed an update to Steam for the CV1 Rift. I do hope others like Dirt Rally step into the VR race sim vacuum.

    Damn shame :(
Well my rift isn't getting here until may, so hopefully Kunos will have gotten around to support by that time. I'm not familiar with how this works since I never had a DK2, is there no possible way to make the new hardware work with the SDK? Or is it not backwards compatible?

nope new CV1 cant run any runtime under 1.0 , current Runtime of 1.3 means there is only one race sim presently that I have found working , PCars.

Im gutted :( only Game I can use with my DK2 on 1.3 is EliteDangerous which has no frikking motion because of the 64bit issue :( Glad pCars is updated will have to try that as it wasn't working last night when I tried.

Dirt Rally my favorite game doesn't work hopefully with the update on April 5th that will be fixed, fingers and everything else crossed.

AC has always been useless as you cant setup the car or anything once in the rift they had plenty of time to develop it more, everyone else has so they can shove their game where the sun dont shine :)

Off topic somewhat but how about FlyInside, it has 1.3 support and the new Leap motion integration to use your hands in the cockpit.

The physics in AC just keeps getting better, like after the latest update, but no VR means it is useless for me, which is a real shame. Pcars is now my go to driving sim but I do miss the AC type physics, the lack of a track editor and not having a strong mod community.

This was news for me... so motion does not work with 64 bit programs/games?
isnt that a problem, seeing as most newer games will be 64bit?

The 64 bit issues only affects Memory Hook plugins

ah, ok. thanks for clearing that up for me.
But this sill suck, my main motivation for ordering the OR was because I knew it worked with AC (since I had seen videos on youtube in Assetto with the Oculus) :p
    Guess I was wrong ;)

The DK2 only worked with the old Oculus runtime, so you would have to use a runtime switcher.

I gave up on AC VR months ago, it is too clunky and incomplete to be an enjoyable option for me at the moment. I will amuse myself with alternatives until the AC devs get around to proper VR support.
