    Hi ALL,

My Name is Marco (Aka LUPUS), 42yrs old, from ROME (ITALY).

I always had the big passion for Flyin, even if I’m not a real pilot.
I love to Fly in simulation (Prepar3d) and I’m part of the the Virtual group 102°v (http://www.vaafse.org/virtual102/) and VASFEE (http://www.vaafse.org/html/index.php) , flying with my virtual group with Starfighter F104 from SSW (http://www.simskunkworks.com/store/index.php).

Recently I completed my v2 of my 3D cockpit to fly with my group

I build , with the help of oine friend of my , a cockpit in wood, with 3 (later with 2 + 1 monitor) projectors that project images in a rounded MDF wall, and wrapped the simulator image with a wrapping software called IMMERSIVE DISPLAY PRO ( I have some documentation for it , if you may be interested) .. very easy to do

I read some about the Stewart platform , and I think that the next step (v3) may be to put all this stuff up on a Stewart platform to and a more real immersion. (more or less as DoctorD did http://www.x-sim.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=1599&start=70#p15012 )

I read a lot both here and on x-sim.de

    The problem is :
I have no electronic competencies at all…. And a lot of answer. L
As I have no elettronic competenties I would avoid to use AC POWER , and prefer to use DC power 12v or so…

I understood that there are different way to build a 6DOF, but before starting a project that will never end my approach is the following :

    V1 - LITLLE MODEL
    1) Build a model with little servos (material are easy to identify and was ispired from here
    (See attached pdf)
so far i bought arduino card , 6 servos and other material

(I need to start understaing all this staff and try to build the model

So far i realized that the described model above is not intended to be connected on P3d, but not so far from my obiective

    2) i have to review & understand which card or cards are good to achieve this first target

    3) understand the best SW to interface model with P3d via FSUIPC
-> some one told me that The motion controller is designed to work with both racing and flight simulation software (Ian's 6DOF BFF, X-sim-3 , Simtools). The best motion software to use at the moment is Ian's 6DOF BFF motion software . (But is payware)
XSIM sound very complited to me, and simtool is still not clear to me if good for arduino or not (And i have not enough coin neither to download the PLUGIN a make some local connection test :-( )

See my understing to far attache in the LOGIC SCHEME (MAY BE WRONG).

MY PRIMARY TARGET IS TO FIND COMPLETE SUGGESTION TO :
    - BUILD THE LITTLE MODEL
    - FIND THE BEST , EASY, AND SOURCE CODE SOFTWARE TO CONNECTED TO PREPAR3D THE LITTLE MODEL

    V2 - REAL MODEL

If ever i will achieve v1 target, i will then analize the v2 target , more complex

At that stage i hope to have understood all is needed from a SW/INTERFACE point of view

So far i understood that the best choice is THANOS AMC1280 Cards.
I'm already in contact with him, and i soon as i have budget i will probably move to that solution.

Meanwhile i would like to improve my competencies and start understanding the following :

    1) Which is the material list i will need (For istance : Which motor ? How long should be the bar ? Better rotary motor (180° ? 360°?) or linear attuator ? Which one ? etc etc)

    2) then i will prepare a budget with expenses forecast

I dont want to invent nothing new, i just want to replicate some good (and not too expensive solution) already done by someelse

Once my 6dof platform will be ready , i will mount my cockpit on it.
If i got compentency, feaseble budget, my wife approval :) (Joke)

Sorry for so long post (and my very bad english)

    My best regards,
    Marco

Just some comments regarding your model criteria.

    1) Build a model with little servos: You can use @eaorobbie's code, which can be expanded for additional RC servos, and the steps here, to dive your model: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/2dof-simulator-servo-model.6851/#post-77270

    2) i have to review & understand which card or cards are good to achieve this first target: An Arduino is fine for the model and you can even control a full size DC powered Stewart platform with Arduinos.

    3) understand the best SW to interface model with P3d: You can use SimTools and the Prepar3D plugin to drive you model. SimTools does not yet have math based support for a Stewart platform but that will not matter too much, some are already using SimTools to power their full size 6DOF rigs. SimTools 2.0 is currently in closed Beta testing and @eaoribbie is developing a maths based plugin for it.

With respect to cost effective 6DOF full size rigs start by studying the projects here for some inspiration: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/list-of-6dof-projects.179/

GRAZIE (THANK YOU ) Noorbeast !

I start studing and feedback if i will success on using the code from eaorobbie.

Do i need also the FSX plugin ? Forum doesnt allow me to doload for lack of coin (Dont know how much i need to download)

You will need the FSX/Prepar3D plugin and it will take 250 coins for a weeks access to all plugins, I have donated enough so you get the access package from here: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/shop/

Hello every one, i started studied some projects here and i got some ideas.
I have been particularly inspired from Silent chill's .

I also tryied to start a Sketchup concept (Never used before and it move very badly , still have to undestand why :) , before connect to GameEngine). see my mess attached :p

How did silent hill connected the bar between upper platform and motor ? Using the ball going ?
When i run physics it fall down e no big force is available in the motors....

By the way i downloaded the Plugin for prepar3d for game engine, but i have the following problems :

    1) I got No Default setting in Axis assignment for profile FSX_P3D
    2) I try to connect to game , in the output setting / virtual axis , there is no slider movements at all.

So looks like Game engine doesn't speaks to P3D.

Did i made something wrong , or plugin have a bug ?

    Thanks for help

With the Prepar3D Axis Assignments it is normal to be blank, you can import the default profile with the Load Default button then save it.

However, if your default is set up for racing then it is best to manually enter P3D Axis allocations from scratch, as they will be quite different. You will also need to use filters to get the mot out of a flight motion profile. Use @Archie's guide as a starting point and tweak from there: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/prepar3d-guide-to-realistic-motion-settings.144/

The same steps apply to developing and refining a motion profile: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/steps-to-create-a-motion-profile.228/

There is a known .net error that can occur with P3D, you run these files to fix it: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/fsx-prepar3d-net-error.156/

thank you noorbeast, i will try to invent some setting then looking around if anyone suggested any good setting.

I already have installed SIMconnect correclty but thesting the axis still no movement / connection.
    Any other suggestion ?
(As you may see on the uploaded image , flyin' no movement of slides at all)
I will try to figure out.

Please post pictures of all your settings and confirm that you ran the files to ensure there is no .NET errors.

Hi noor, sorry for late reply, i was at work .

I attach the other screenshot of my Simtool config.
I am also quite sure that simconnect is correctly installed as i need it to fly online with virtual group , as we have many external component that need it correctly installed.

I also confirm that no popup message about .NET errors appears.

Is there any other setting i may check ?

Simtool is connected to an arduino card, so far with no motors or MMs.
Now actual configuration i'm using is ALL OUT
    <axis1>;<axis2>;....<axis6>;

See the last updated screenshot (Sorry i upload an old one).

Arduino just get the serial data .
I tryied to review the code on arduino and now everythink work.

Thank you for your help !!
