Thanks for the help... after look at the tutorial closely... i wound that the com port need to be configure... :D got it connected now.

I got to ask... is there a complete video of setting up Monster Moto controller for a 2DOF somewhere? I know this forums got all the information... but maybe too much infos... hard to find the right one. Basically, I need complete set up from A-Z for monster moto 2DOF with Simtool... :)

There is no video. IMHO the SMC3 manual is very detailed and even for beginners easy to understand, IF you read slowly and follow all steps in the right order. :)

    Totally agree @Pit.

And the community is both knowledgeable and supportive in providing help for troubleshooting as long as the person with the problem is being clear about following instruction and details about what they have and have not done.

We all started as newbies at one stage or the other, and had our frustrating moments, but got there in the end with the advice and support of the community here.

Thanks guys... I will try to slow it down and pay more attention to detail. I have been wanting to build this in 2015, bought pretty much all components and did a bunch of research... then boom, life, got side tracked... Now back at it... but then forgot all the research I've done... haha.

Is it better to get a multiturn Potentiometer? this mean the pot can turn continously right? So far I have destroyed 2 of my good pot... and now I am using RadioShack 10K cheappy pot for testing and it's causing a lot of problem.

What's a good inexpensive Pot? My gearing ratio is 5 to 1 at the moment... I am planning to do a 2DOF and motor will be under the seat and push rod will be mounting on the bottom of the seat. I assume 120-130degrees of throw is more than enough?

    thanks

Hall sensors may be a little more expensive but you can't break them in a motor runaway, they offer excellent precision and are simple to direct mount with a flexible coupling, so no gearing needed.
