This video you can see the moto monster light flick between forward and backwards whilst the software is telling it to drive one way for the sine on the SMC3 software. This is what is causing the jerky movements.

Noise looks reasonable for a pot. I've put filter caps in to no avail. The Kp and Kd looks too high. For a quick and dirty tune set Kp, Ki, Kd to zero. Then slowly up the Kp value to get a reasonable response without hunting. You can then start upping the values of Ki and Kd to improve the motor response. I am sorry but there is no simple PID values to plug in. You have to find them for your particular setup. (For my setup the PID controller values are 1.5, 0.1, 0.3 but even that is not perfected yet.) I can only suggest you read up on a "how to tune PID" guide and see what each value does to understand what effect you see.

A flakey channel on the MM is most likely the problem but you will still need to tune your setup anyway.

I will be switching my setup over to SMC3 tomorrow. I have the same model motor coming down from MD in the next few days so it will be interesting to see what PID values we both come up with.

I really like the SMC3 utility program, you can see what is happening helps so much when trying to isolate a problem

Brassem, are you using moto monster boards?? If so watch the video when it uploads and see if your units are doing what mine are.

I am getting two MM boards sent over from perth. $20 specials. This was for my force feedback controller but I will hook one up to that motor and see what happens. Ordered both motor and MM yesterday so it may take a few days to get to Melb.

This video shows the moto monster board control with the motors disconnected, When i tun the pots the lights stay solid in either direction. (still uploading)

Can see now. What happens when you set Kp, Ki, Kd to 0, then set Kp stepped up in values of 5? You should see no reaction on too low a value. Then sluggish response. Then better response. Start upping the value in 1s. If its gone pear shaped start lower the Kp until it gets back to a reasonable response. At this stage leave it until you read up about setting PID values to set the I and D values. It wont be perfect but at least look as though it following the command. Unfortunately that chatter and motor back and forth is the effect of hunting in a geared system which means you are overdriving the system. (Kp too high, or other values of Ki or Kd too high). (And time to edit a post is better too! Thanks mods!)

Also was this the Arduino code you have used?

But are they genuine or clones, as I suspect the latter at $19.95, when genuine is around $100 or more. Some clones are reported as working fine while others are not: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/reputable-monster-moto-suppliers-testing-before-use.158/

Thanks for the heads-up noorbeast!!! From the price I am sure they are clones. This video from the link you gave me just proves that unfortunately Bruce must have a clone too. I will test the ones I get and report (edit this post). (The supplier has only 1 left in stock anyway.)

Whats weird is he is going between A1 & A2 for 1 motor then B1 & B2 for the second motor where as in the wiring diagram it is shown as A1&B1 for motor 1 and A2 & B2 for motor two
