    So no IP addresses changing is needed at all then.
    Both of them should be 127.0.0.1.
    Please set them back to these numbers and tell me what you get buddy.
    They should connect.

    Just checking that in Game Engine under Tools the Manager IP is 127.0.0.1?

    I suspect something in your network configuration is messing with what is called localhost, which is 127.0.0.1.

    What specifically are you using for network connectivity, a dongle was mentioned, so what brand and model number.

    What happens if in your menu you search for cmd, open a command prompt and type this in it:

    ping localhost

    ping 127.0.0.1

    You could try this, but keep in mind we are asking you to modify your machine settings as SimTools is not really the issue, it just needs 127.0.0.1 properly defined:

    Go to %systemroot%\System32\drivers\etc
    Backup the hosts file
    Then open notepad with administrator rights.
    Navigate to the same folder and open the hosts file
    Make sure the first line after the # lines (comments) is 127.0.0.1 localhost and the second is ::1 localhost
    Then open cmd and run the command ipconfig /flushdns
    Restart SimTools.

    What is the next bit in the host file, it should be something like this:

    127.0.0.1 localhost
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain
    255.255.255.255 broadcasthost
    ::1 localhost
    127.0.0.1 local

    Two things you can try.

    1. Take out the dongle and use a cat cable to connect directly to your modem and check SimTools then, I am curious if the dongle itself messes with the hosts definitions.

    2. Open Notepad as admin and then the hosts file, add:

    127.0.0.1 localhost
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain
    255.255.255.255 broadcasthost
    ::1 localhost
    127.0.0.1 local

    Save it.

    Then open cmd and run the command ipconfig /flushdns

    Then start and check SimTools.

    Hi @noorbeast, I removed the dongle, no difference, I removed the cat cable, and after I rebooted, the correct IP is on both programs, but still no connection, can't modify the hosts file, because it says I don't have a administrator rights to do so!! Can't work out the to get round this!

    You need to run notepad as Admin to modify the hosts file.

    Search for notepad in your menu, right click on the menu and select Run As Administrator.

    Add the details supplied earlier and save the hosts file.

    Then open cmd and run the command ipconfig /flushdns

    Hi @noorbeast

    I modified the host file, hope this is correct?
    IMG_4013.JPG
    Then run the IP config in cmd
    IMG_4014.JPG
    Tried Simtools as administrator and normally, didn't connect.
    IMG_4015.JPG
    Rebooted PC and tried again. Didn't connect :confused: And I've disabled all Firewalls and anti virus software!

    Don't use the # that makes it a comment, mod the file with just these:

    127.0.0.1 localhost
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain
    255.255.255.255 broadcasthost
    ::1 localhost
    127.0.0.1 local

    Then run the cmd again.
