Any chance of screw terminals instead of jumpers? dunno if your design is final or not, would make it so much more secure.

The design is not final yet, can be changed. I was thinking to use screw terminals as I did in the prototype 1.x version AMC1280USB boards, but there is not enough space to for them even if I were to use 2.54mm pitch screw terminal. Also these terminals do not come in the size I need.

    2.54terminal.jpg

Using normal 2.54 pitch pin headers is much easier as these are very common and can handle well the low voltage signals for the sensors. You could use some Female headers to solder the sensor wiring on them and plug/unplug the whole group of sensors if needed:

    2.54mmfemaleheader.jpg

Or break them to any size you want:

    Thanks

Kick starter hates me. I tried during the initial backing but it just tells me there was an error processing payment.
Tried again and same error.... The joys of modern technology.

Plugin interface for the AMC1280USB is in the works!! First initial simple beta was successful before the kickstarter ended! Now on to more features!

I'm going to post the simple interface plugin here for now, for anyone that already has the AMC1280USB to try, but there will be a specific thread about it later on.

You only need to choose the COM port that the AMC1280USB takes (autodetection will be implemented soon).

The axis assignments can be as follows for testing each motor separately:

Here is what I used for testing

    Hi Alexey,

I got messages from people that either could not process their cards or were too late to pledge. Therefore I'll allow some extra pre-orders via Paypal, outside kickstarter for the kickstarter rewards throughout August. These will be manufactured along the normal kickstarter rewards.

The price for the AMC1280USB Barebones would be $85 (outside kickstarter price).
The shipping cost to $23 for International or $10 for USA. Lead time for it to be ready to ship would be same as kickstarter (mid to end September).

If you or anyone else here that missed the kickstarter, interested in this offer, send me a PM with your name, email address and message content "pre-order AMC1280USB Barebones" to receive Paypal Invoice for the pre-order.

    Thanks
    Thanos

    Hi Thanos, can you please explain in simple (Homer Simpson) terms;
What does this device take the place of in the sim?

Maybe you have a simple diagram so Homer's brain can understand better!:think

Its an interface between the computer (via USB) and the Motor drivers. It also reads the sensors that are mounted on the motors and performs PID positioning as demanded by Simtools.

    See a simplified diagram here:

Thank you Thanos for the clarification, and I appreciate the reply.

Thanos; I am NO where in the vicinity, to purchase a device such as this just yet, the C.N.C (not completed) has the come before the platform build.

So will these devices be available, say in 6 months?

    Thanks for your time.
    Regards Jerry

Perhaps. I'll be manufacturing some extra ones, but not sure how long it will be before they are gone. If there is demand I will be making more.

    Thanks

    Hi,

I'm behind a few days to make the order for the PCB's for the kickstarter as I was shorting out the parts list (some were obsolete and had to source from other vendors).

So yes, there is still a little bit time. See these offers here for the AMC1280USB deluxe:
    http://motionsim.blogspot.com/2017/08/extending-pre-orders-for-kickstarter.html
    Follow the instructions there...

And here is a video of the actual AMC1280USB Deluxe kickstarter version all assembled:

Answering your other post, you can drive 24v Brush motors using Sabertooth (which can be connected to the AMC1280USB).
But you can also drive Brushless DC motors if using a one with driver compatible with AMC1280USB ( @RobsonSwiss ).

    Thanks
    Thanos
