Excellent (but expensive) 3dof or affordable 6DOF. Which one is better for driving & flying OVERALL?

They’re all almost in the same price range. I have two options now: I could save money by buying a 3dof from dofreality for $2k and then upgrade to their upcoming affordable 6DOF later. OR, I could just buy the NjMotion/prosimu t1000 3dof (the better one of out of these two) but I won’t upgrade to a 6DOF.

If you were in my place, which would choose? IMO even an “affordable” 6DOF performs better than a very good 3dof at flying AND at racing. Am I correct..? Just need confirmation lol, please help guys. Need some advice I beg you.

" Commercial" “affordable” and "6dof" could not be written in the same sentence :)

It is a lot easier to get a quality 3dof than an “affordable” and well made 6dof. Also I don't think there would be an easy way to upgrade from a 3dof unit to a 6dof, they are two totally different beast.

If your talking about an "affordable" 6Dof commercial system, the only one I know of is the one RobsonSwiss is building. Note that "Affordable" is a relative term. I would check out his thread in the commercial section.

The upper (movable part) is the same as for 2DOF / 3DOF / 4DOF and 6DOF, the only question is in the links of the rods and the actuators (motors).

Sure, sitting and attaching wheel/controls and pedals, not the links and not the lower part, nor the position of the motors and the rods, so lets call it a draw ? :)

I mean the cockpit in which the pilot sits is not much different in 2DOF and 6DOF platforms, if we are talking about full frame simulators. The steering wheel and the pedals should be located equally comfortably, regardless of the number of degrees of freedom.
