I mean something like that. The arrows should be the springs.

Hi its me again with another question ;).
Its about cooling the MotoMonster. Do you think it's enough to cool the shield with this heatsink?

    Screenshot_20170531-204603.png

Its 40*40*20mm. I want to cut in in the middle and put in on both drivers.
On top of the housing is a 120mm fan. The MotoShield is straight under it.

And... Is there some way to cool the motors?

    Hi, its me again.
So my sim is getting better from time to time.
My biggest problem is the power of the wiper motors, they are to weak. And under longer use they are getting to hot.

I want to buy me this motors : http://www.ebay.de/itm/WG88BD82-3-G...5-35U-min-Kran-Seilwinde-Grill-/222537916937?

Now the Question... the motors are 80W and 40A max.

Should i take 4 MotoMonster Shields or is there a other option ?

I want to use a SMC3 Code on it.

You don't need 4 motomonsters to run 2 80watts motors, just a good one with heatsink and fan (not an easy task if you get clones...), or get a 2x32 Sabertooth and forget about it.
80watts /12v = 6,66 amp, I don't think they get 80amp even in the worst stall scenario, put a 20amp fuse in line and forget about that 80 amps...

BTW, never trust published ratings, 60NM in their best wet dreams.:grin
Anyway, they will be better than wipers.

    Hey XSim Community,

it´s me again after a bit of time.
I´ve decided to rebuild my Sim. It doesen´t worked well an i was very dissatisfied with it, so i´ve disassembled the whole sim and started to plan and build a new one.

I wanted to have a small Seatmover witch is only under the seat.

Here are 2 Pictures of it...

    IMG_20180203_203331_1.jpg

    IMG_20180203_203341_6.jpg

For more stability i want to put springs in the 4 corners under the chair and connect it with the bottom part.

The springs will be something like this :

    4195395.jpg

I want to renew my elecronics too. The Motors in my Sim are devenetly to weak.
They must be replaced too, but in Germany i don´t get a good motor for my Sim.

In the future i planed to order the Motors from Motor Dynamics... but there i´ve to pay 120 Dollars for deliverey and taxes.

I´ve two MonsterMotors. For each Moster one 575 Watt PSU. Two because of the thermal aspect and the new motors in the future. The pots will be exchanged to Hall Pots in the future too.

The electronic part of the Sim should be installed in an Box.

    IMG_20180208_213923_2.jpg

In the box i will put the 2 PSUs, the 2 MonsterMotos and the Arduino.
And of course 2-3 120mm fans for cooling.

For the cables i´ve had an idea. I´ ve bought me a male and a female 13pin Trailer Plug.
The male side i will connect with the two Motors an the two Pots. The female side will be mounted at the Box. So i can easy dissembly it when i have to put the Sim away from the PC.

    IMG_20180208_200813_7.jpg

Please tell me what yout think about it ?

    Best Regards Gerrit

    Just some thoughts for consideration.

A uni joint placed mid between the seat and base, instead of directly bolted to the seat base, will introduce some odd geometry when the seat moves and put additional strain on the motors: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/universal-joint-placement.108/

Wiper motors are not well suited to a compact design, so bigger motors with low ratio gearboxes, like 60;1 from Motion Dynamics or elsewhere, is a good idea.

The more inherent leverage you can squeeze out of a compact design the better, including considering things like lever CTC and rod angles, SimCalc can help you work out how to get the best out of it: https://www.xsimulator.net/communit...e-linear-speed-and-forces-of-your-design.270/

Okay, you mean i should cut the rod between the the joint an the seatconsole and connect the Joint direct to the seat ?

Correct, but keep in mind all of the design parameters and run them through SimCalc.

I want to try first to put up the joint nearer to the chair, then i will measure it again.

Hey Guys , i´ve tryed to put my joint as near to the seat as possible.

    This is the result.

    IMG_20180218_152502_9.jpg

I can not put my dimensions in Sim Calc because the Rod Mount Position Z Value is below Zero.

    This is the result.

The issue will be the Geometry Info value being negative, as the program expects a zero or positive value. So the best you could do is use zero.

I was able to use negative Z values in Simcalc and I am following DOFReality design.
