    Hi

Suddenly Game Engine keeps crashing, no matter if i run a game or just uses the output testing.

I have not made any changes for months (besides installing Fallout 4 VR) so i really dont understand why this is happening. Its crashing after a few minutes, more action, the faster the crash comes. I experience no problems when testing in the JRK Utility...

I have searched, but found nothing, can anyone help?

Try lowering the MainLevel % in Game Manager Profile Editor to 95% and let us know if the reduced Game Manager crashing. It seems JRKs get a bit more sensitive to spikes over time.

    Hi

Thanks for your advice, but Game engine keeps crashing, even with lower settings.. If the JRKs where to blame, would the problem not also appear when testing in the JRK utility?

If lowering the MainLevel % had no effect at all then try swapping out usb cables and check PSU status.

The JRK utility will act predictably but you can create motion profiles where an axis/force is way over 100%, which will always be problematic, particularly in a heavy collision.

I tried switching USB ports and cables with out luck. I seems that there are a few threads with same problem, all occurring suddenly, which makes me think that it could have something to do with a recent Windows update? Unfortunately the home version installs the update just as quickly as i can uninstall it.

For me it seems like a problem with Game Engine, rather than hardware, there is no errors from the JRKs or anything, Game Engine just crashes. As there have been no changes in hardware or software (besides Windows) I can't see how it could be anything else?

As written in the other tread:

I tried disabling USB legacy support, but it didn't help anything, neither does increasing or decreasing usb port speed or disabling all unnecessary USB devices.

When Game Engine crashes, Windows plays the "USB disabled sound"

Sounds like something is causing a disconnect, swap out usb cables and if using a usb hub try directly connecting to the computer instead.

If your running 2 jrk's, try removing one from simtools and try again.
If it crashes then try the other one.
try to see if its just one that is crashing or both.
I bet it's the same on causing your problem.

If you interface drops out, Game Engine will most surly crash.
My guess is that one of the jrk's may be slowly wearing out?

    Hi

I tried that, and just as you says, it's only a problem with the right one. Is it a common problem that JRKs wear out? In my world electronics either work or not

But i guess I have to order a new one then...

JRKs seem to be a little more sensitive to power spikes over time, as we run them pretty hard with motion simulation, but it can also be other hardware like a dying PSU or noisy USB, ferrite clips can help with the latter.

    Okay, thanks

I have ordered a new one, I was sure the old, used wiper motors would be the first thing to burn out, but I guess I was wrong... anyway, the sim has run for 3-500 hours, so the $/hour is pretty reasonable, even if it costs a JRK now or then.:)

I was sure it had to be a software problem, but wasn't aware that Game Engine would crash uppon a disconnect. Let's see if everything is working fine again when the new one arrives.

Thanks for your help until now:)

It just depends on how hard you push them, and how well balanced your sim is.
I would swap sides with the jrk's, and see if the problem follows the jrk or the motor its attached to.

Let me know how it goes buddy!

I have the exact same issue you have except I am using The AMC 1280 and MDO3s and Thanos thinks it might be a ground issue for me, but now my board is done so waiting for a reply. But Me same thing slow movements all day, but soon as a fast or lots of motion 2 beeps and disconnect on the USB. If you figure it out great cause I am stuck too.

You could try reducing the 'Output Rate' in the interface settings to 10msec.

I just installed a new JRK, and it has changed absolutely nothing...:(

I still think it is a software issue, and maybe a Windows thing...

I have mentioned checking the PSU a number of times, can you confirm if you swapped that out or not?

Simtools does not take much to run so try it out on any other computer you may have.

Yes i have tried that. Tried with another motor, but when i start it (game engine or JRK utility) it just crashes into the mechanical stop?! I think i have seen this when i first build it, but can't figure out what is wrong... the pot meter works fine...
