Question Sabertooth+Kangaroo+Arduino

    Hi Everyone

    After two years of work commitments I can finally get around to building my Flight simulator, since I first started I have changed my design to make the simulator lighter with more performance, and not to over engineer it.

    I have a question if any one can help me with, I have decided to change the motors on my sim to two 24 volt 400 Watt motors from Simkit, I will be using the Sabertooth 2 x32 controller with the kangaroo x2 controller.

    Would there be any advantage or benefits in using an Arduino with this setup, would the Kangaroo be able to do the job on its own ?.

    I will be using Hall Effect sensors directly fitted to the motor shaft for the best resolution as I am not keen on using plastic gears to drive the sensor as there might be issues relating to backlash, and I will be using micro switches as limit stops.

    My simulator will be a similar design like the 3DOF Simulator but setup purely for flight simulation, I will be building a data base of all the components used in the sim, and all cad drawings will be available to other members.

    A lot of the parts have been manufactured by myself on a lathe and other parts laser cut.

    I will post pictures and spec of the sim as it evolves.

    The kangaroo should be able to work without an arduino. An arduino would only be used as an ttl/serial converter. I recommend rs232 as they cost less and take up less space.

    Thanks for the reply, with regard to the arduino i was uncertain if it was required or not to control the motors, thank you for the information.
