Good day all. My name is Roland from South Africa. I am by n means a computer programming pro and at this stage I am only a novice at best.

But I can assure you all I don't look onto this site as a quick recipe for success. My project:

I am going to build a 3DOF motion platform using the Nema42 driven by DQ860MA managed by Arduino Uno.

The torque of these stepper motors are 300kg per inch, so I don't think a gearbox will be needed.

I am going to start to play around with the software and try to manipulate / control the motors.
I will share photos once my frame design is finished and manufactured. If I may, I would like to test the communities opinion regarding VR Oculus as to fixed screens.

Same with triples Vs VR, start a discussion on your thread, though it really is a matter of preference.

    Good luck with your project

    Hi Roland,

    welcome here.
can you confirm the torque you are calculating with?
The strongest NEMA 42 stepper I can see generate 4100 [Oz - in], that match nearly 29 [Nm].
Your 300 kg per inch match nearly 390[Nm], that seems to high in my opinion.

(don't know where to post this else, sorry)

Hi everyone! I'm Morgan, from Ontario Canada. I've been reading through the forums and member projects here for quite some time, and finally decided to join the community. The amount of information here, and members that are eager to help each other with their projects is amazing! I look forward to being a part of it, and hopefully I'll be able to contribute to it as well.

I'm currently in the early stages of building a racing/flight sim rig, using a fuselage from an old aerobatic biplane (hated seeing it rotting away out in the weather, so I had to rescue/re-purpose it). Planning on a G seat to start, and full motion eventually. I'll start a build thread soon to document my progress as I go.

    Hello,

I'm Matt for Oz, I've been quite active in the iRacing forums for the past year or so, quite a humbling experience to start here as a forum n00b with no coins !

I have an interest in open wheelers, F1, Indycar and OSW.

On the iRacing forum I have numerous posts on Kollmorgen "bogeyman" servos, SinCos encoder upgrades and bass shakers. Drop me a line if you need any help with the above !

Long-term my goal is 4 or more degrees of freedom, perhaps 4 vertical actuators + yaw + surge/sway.

I'm 60 years old, I teach technology in high school and I am pilot-instructor of ULM Multiaxe (very light aircraft)
I live near Le Mans in France and I would like to introduce students to piloting within the framework of the school with a simulator whose movements would approach those of a plane.
I have browsed forum, incredible richness, and I am convinced that technically I am able to engage a 3DOF project at least, with the software Sim Tools

For the associated simulation software I have not yet decided between Flight simulator and X Plane. In any case there will be three screens at least that I would like to fix on the dynamic simulator.
Thank you very much, in advance

    Best regards
    Fiddle72

    Hi everyone,

I'm Kas from Sydney Australia. I play fair bit of racing simulators (iracing, AC, RR3E) and also flight/space simulators (DCS/X-Plane & ED). I currently own 2DoF motion simulator from motion systems (http://motionsystems.eu), which im no longer happy with and currently looking for some help in building or advice in if i could butya pre-build packaged 4DoF or 6D0F simulator.

Unfortunately im not that handy at starting my own project as many people have done here. I can do modifications and tweaks but thats about it. I hope i have come to the right place.

    Thanks.

    Hi I'm willv
I just found out about this and it looks like I may finally use my Arduino.
I'm in the process of building my own steering wheel add-on for G27 (6 buttons are not enough anymore).
After that I may experiment with some motion sim as well.
    Cheers
