While not perfect, the Joystick Plug-in worked way better then I expected. Much better then no motion :).

I couldn't figure out how to get the axes to align correctly with that plugin. Roll was pitch, pitch was yaw, yaw was roll etc.

This is not an option for elite dangerous.
I’ve a very fine tuned system in the meantime and the simply joystick plugin will not deliver the balanced feeling I would expect in game

A quick look at what is happening in simtools virtual tools soon sorts that out. Each to their own - works for me :).

Just tested and it's working :) Pitch, roll, yaw and heave seem correct.

For some reason, the game mirror is hidden when I use the plugin, but is not hidden if I disable motion. So that's odd.

I get this error after exiting the game.

I'm also getting all the motion back as normal. Thanks a lot SC! There's also the MV C Runtime debug error message but it doesn't seem to affect the process. You have all our gratitude :cheers

Great news that the plugin is working again. Cheers Craig - I'll set it up shortly.

Slightly off-topic but relevant here I think, Ive just got back from an 'EliteMeet' in Reading, UK which had over 150 attendees. I had 20-or so folks try out my 3DOF motion chair yesterday - including Kate Russell (from BBC - 'click') and Ed and Will from Frontier Developments. I also had a good chat with Kerrash - who knows the main programmers at FD (he has my contact card now and info asking for rotation values/angular speed for roll, pitch and yaw (rads/sec) and force vector values/accelerations for surge, sway and heave (m/ sec squared), in local (ship) coords. Kerrash is now gonna speak to the right people. Some of the ED API users at the meet suggested that what we need could easily be added to the current ED API (?).
Anyways, I demo'd Elite in my motion chair for quite a few hours in joystick mode which drew in a small crowd. I later put Kate and Ed in a Rollercoaster sim with API data (see pics below) to demonstrate what API motion data can achieve then explained how much better it would be for playing Elite compared to relying on joystick mode . Both expressed amazement with the setup and ride - in VR too of course. I also had my 1/3rd scale 6DOF platform there (running the same API setup) which showed off 6DOF motion really well. Kate even mentioned doing a snippit on the BBC click programme in the future (!!).
Ed wrote down the details about a motion API requirements - he now has my contact card too.

So, I've done the best I can to help move the motion API closer to reality. I'll keep you all apprised of any developments.
I'll end by saying that I had a lot of folks saying that they were impressed seeing a chair with motion - so many questions (which is a good thing). There was a lot of PC/Elite kit being used at the event but I was the only one with motion.

    That's very good ! Thanks Kev !

I have a question regarding your setup : How do you cancel VR head movement ? I do not see a touch controller to be a reference point... Do you have some voodoo magic going under the hood ?
