    Hello,

My name is Carl and I am a long time video game/sim racer and have a small bit of real life track time. I live around Chicago, IL. With a HUGE amount of help from @nickmoxley I built my first racing rig last year ... I am now looking to upgrade it to a seat mover with traction loss. I look forward to talking with (and hopefully racing with) those that have been down this path already!

    Hi everyone!

    New member from Sweden here.
I came across this site when youtubing for simrigs made for racing and flight/space sims.
I had actually started building just a simple platform/cockpit but after seeing all these amazing builds I've decided to scrap that build and start building a 6 DOF instead.
This will have to be a long term build though as I'm currently upgrading my gaming computer... parts ain't cheap! :(
But that means I will have that much more time to do proper research on how to build one of these things.

Anyways, nice to meet you all!

    /Johan

    Hello :),

New member from Dorset England. I'm writing a computer game that simulates the flight of a new kind of aircraft and I would like to build a 6DoF motion platform to go with it. The game will use the HTC Vive headset and is written in the Unreal engine. I have some basic building skills and access to lots of space and equipment but, I'm not going to lie, I'm feeling pretty daunted by the challenge, so any advice and or help I could get would be much appreciated. My current strategy is to try and buy as much of the electrical components as I can premade, and build all the structure my self (the electronics and motor selection are the parts I'm most daunted by).

It appears like the people on this forum give so much in terms of advice, and so i would like to add that: if anybody here needs any help with the HTC Vive or Unreal Engine message me and I'll see what i can do :).

    Thanks.

    George here from Stockholm Sweden,

I found this awesome site when searching if simcommander software from simexperience works with my DIY scn5 2dof sim-motion.

I'v not had the time for my hobby for a while now, because of kids and life got in the way ;).
hopefully now when they are self-going i have more time.
Im exited to try simtool asap :grin

    Cheers!!:cheers

Hello all I am new to the world of simulators and new to Simtools. I recently purchased a RacingCube and I have it all set up but I cannot get motion translated from the PC to the simulator. The simulator came with a simtools license and quite a few plug-ins. I am trying to use Elite Dangerous and I have followed the instructions for patching the game but I cannot get movement to the sim. I have played the game for a while before trying to patch itand the game engine shows that the game is running as soon as I start ED but no motion is being sent. The patch says that a path is not needed but I have my games installed on a game drive "D" and simtools installed on the root drive "C". Is this a problem and if so is there a way to edit the path for the patch so that it points to the "D" drive for the actual game files. The sim will move when I open the Game Engine and set it to output testing so I know the rig is getting input from the PC. I have the Game Engine and the Game manager running and I have a Blue box at the top of the game manager that says "Game Running". Any help would be appreciated this is all new to me.

    Welcome @gaaz.

Have a look here for basic SimXperience SimTools setup: http://www.xsimulator.net/community...-i-dont-know-what-i-am-doing.3868/#post-83526

But do read through the SiomTools manual so you have a good overview of how SimTools work: http://www.xsimulator.net/simtools-complete-documentation/

Once you have your rig moving there are some great tips to tweaking SimTools in the FAQs: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/simtools-settings-tips-and-tricks.18/category

    Hi All!

Just signed up after stumbling across the site! I use iracing and currently have an 80/20 rig with a direct drive wheel and I'm planning on sussing out how to build my own motion rig! No idea where I'm starting, budget or timelines but ultimately looking to recreate the D-Box 4 actuator system whilst saving a bit of cash!!

    Based in East England!

    Hello hello!
Brett from NC here. Our company inherited an old CXC Simulations racing sim that a client abandoned in our warehouse for about 8 years and now I'm trying to fix it. I understand it was one hell of a system when it was originally built (12 years ago!!) and I believe it has gotten some upgrades since then, at least to the computer components, but the steering system is busted, and it seems there are no drivers for the SimConBase control unit for windows 10.
So now my task is to find a way to make it work, add on a steering wheel and figure out how to cobble it all back together without spending more than the cost of a track day car.

    Hi there!

My name is Fred and I'm new to motion simulators. I'm part of the University of Alberta'a Formula SAE team where we design, manufacture, and race a formula style racecar every year. I'm hoping to use last year's chassis to create a sim rig!

    # of DOF will likely end up relying heavily on how much sponsorship we receive and how many students have a significant amount of time to dedicate to the project (6DOF Stewart Platforms look awesome but super complex...).

I'm sure I'll be asking lots of questions around here in the next few months! Cheers for creating such a great community!!

    Welcom @UAlberta Formula SAE.

Funding is always an issue for students.

While I can see the attraction of using the old frame keep in mind that the more mass the greater three cost to control it.
