Hello everyone, I am new to the simulator community and I am having some issues I am hoping some of you can help with.
I recently purchased and received a RacingCube from Fasestech.com. It shipped with a full licensed copy of Simtools and quite a few Plug-ins. I have diligently followed the instructions for getting the sim running but so far I cannot get it to move. I can move the actuators through the Game Engine Output Testing so I am sure the sim is getting data from the PC but when I run Elite Dangerous I cannot get movement from the game to the sim. I have run the Game Engine and the Game Manager, I have played ED before patching it and I have patched the game successfully. The Game Engine turns blue once the game is started and shows Game Running but still no motion.
I use a "D" drive to install all of my games and Simtools is installed on mt "C" drive (could that be the problem?) The Game Engine says it does not need a path and shows that the patch is successful so I cannot find a way to change the path to the game. Like I said I am very new to this so any help you can give me would be appreciated.

Gigabyte Z170HD3P motherboard, Intel Core i7-6700 @4.00GHz, 32GB corsair memory, Nvidia 1070 founders, running Windows 10 Home 64bit DirectX 12

The sim seems to be working just fine with DCS, I just tried for the first time and it was awesome so my problem seems to be restricted right now to Elite Dangerous. Thanks again.

ED is challenging, as the game updates consistently break the plugin. Hence there is a new approach is being trailed, that uses a offset file so that pointer values can be found and updated without needing to update the plugin, see here: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/updating-elite-dangerous-plugin.295/

Read the last few pages of the ED thread regarding the latest setup advice: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/elitedangerous-horizons-plugin.10310/page-15

Also be aware that members have used the generic Joystick Plugin for motion with ED as a fallback, whenever a game update breaks the plugin and new pointers have to be found: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/marketplace/joystick-plugin.127/

Thanks for the suggestions I can see I have a lot to learn. I see that there is a new plugin for ED in the download section. The one I have came with the Simtools license I got with the simulator. Do I need to buy the updated one separately or can I get it as an update for the one I already have?

Ask Fasestech as they should provide their customers the latest plugins. Otherwise you can pay for plugin download access or get it for free with 250 earned coins.

    I will do that, thanks

I have another question now; I have DCS working with the Sim but the view is moving quite a bit. I’m playing on the Oculus and one of my sensors is mounted to the rig itself at head level. The view does not stay centered it jumps up and down during flight and I have to keep recentering it. The sim vibrates quite a lot and is a bit jerky while banking.

Vibration and some large axis movements are known to cause some tracking issues, though often that tends to be race games where a motion profile tends to be a lot more harsh than a flight sim.

So first try refining your settings so the rig is a lot smoother: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/steps-to-create-a-motion-profile.228/

But if all else fails other members like @SeatTime have reported that a motorized camera stabilization gimbal has worked for them.

I have done quite a bit of reading but I am going to need a little help understanding some of what I’ve read. My sim came with the default settings already in place but only a small number of games have been optimized by the creator. DCS is not one of them so right now when I’m taking off or taxiing an A-10 the sim is very bouncy and rough, when sitting at idle in a P-51 the sim bounces so hard I can’t use the mouse (it smooths out considerably when power is added to the prop)
Do I smooth this out in the game manager under the “fit” tab for axis control or do I use the tuning center to change the values?

As per the earlier link you do need to learn how to create and refine motion profiles. You work through the steps and create a general profile, then create variations of it in Game Manager profiles.

In your existing circumstances create separate Game Manager profiles for the P-51 and A-10, then turn down heave quite a bit for the P-51 and a little less for the A-10.

Flight sim profile take a bit more time to develop and refine, as you also need to learn about and use Filters in Axis allocations, especially Smoothing, Gain and Return.

I have read the Simtools documentation and noticed that in the game manager under the "Profile Editor" tab it shows the Process Name as EliteDangerous64. I am running ED Via Steam and when I run the game I do not have a process called EliteDangerous64 running. I have included a screenshot of the Apps section of the Task Manager and a shot of the Background Process section sorted alphabetically. Is this the source of my problem and if so is there a way to change the process name so it points at the right one. I have downloaded and installed the most recent plugin from the site and I am still not getting any motion.

You need to place the pointers xml into the simtools plugin directory. Instructions are on the ED plugin page.

Dont worry about what processes are running as the correct process is running that is why gamemanager/engine are turning blue.
