Just an update: it’s now been a week since I found the ground loop and I can confidently confirm that the issue is resolved. I’ve been playing with settings in SimTools and where it was sluggish and lethargic with the issue (largely because I had to compensate by turning settins down...) it is now intense enough to cause me minor panic attacks while driving!!!

I wanted to document this entire process fully, end to end, because it was SO frustrating and at times I couldn’t help suspect that it was Sim Tools itself causing my headaches, but it never was at all. Granted, this was a VERY strange issue and it took far longer for me to figure out than most electrical problems, but if you are having trouble, be sure to take a very systematic approach to isolating everything. Wire management is very important. I do work like this for a living, BTW, and I’ve seen some bizzarre situations in my time. This was one of the most difficult ones to troubleshoot that I’ve come across in years. I hope this helps someone!

That is not enough information to assist with diagnostics.

Is there an actual error message, if so please post it.

Under what circumstances is SimTools crashing?

    What hardware do you have?

Have you checked all connections including swapping out USB cables?

Can you please post pictures of all of your settings.

It's almost always a problem of one of your interfaces dropping out.
I would suggest that you remove your interfaces from GameEngine and see if it still crashes.
Then if using more than one interface, reassign one at a time and re-test, I bet you will find the cultrate.
Once you find the cultrate, then look for loose connections, make sure the motors getting enough power etc...

    Take care,

there isn't any errors, the game doesn't shut down "project cars 2" im using a 3.0 repeater thats 5 meters long. the wipers motors dont cut out mothing cuts out or crashes except the game engine. i have the main game settings turn down to 50% , but no errors. 5 minutes into a race the seat stops moving. now i do have a full setup........ oculus rift wheels and pedals, sim hub with shakers for full vibration. crewchief v4. but i do have game addons in simtools. i have one erros that says "game dash could not be launched please update game dash to the latest version". but close that error down before i start any of the other programs for racing. i thought maybe the arduino 2.0 to the repeator 3.0 but i have it plugged into usb 2.0 so......project cars is sharing with crew chief and sim hub along with the addon from simtools PCars 2 addon. maybe i should try Assetto corsa and pin point the issue.

As @yobuddy has pointed out the most common cause is any disruption to the connection. So try a direct connection usb connection without the repeater.
