So far, that sounds like your most viable option.
To be honest though, shouldn't DofReality be helping out with this issue?
It's a fairly new unit, is it not?

I wouldn't do ANYTHING with the rig powered on.
With things possibly spinning out of control when powered on, you're risking possible injury.

When my NLRv3 jammed up, I was given the option to return it, and at $4k CAD, you are damn well right I did.
Considering that it is a sealed and proprietary unit, plus support was on the other side of the world ($$$$), I figured I'd be better off DIY'ing it....and that's why I'm here on these forums.

I do consider DofReality to be somewhat of a pre-built DIY unit, as they seem to use the same parts which most of the DIY builders here do.
So that's a plus for repairing it...generic parts, and your local metal shop/welder for the rest.

As frustrating as it may be, I'd just wait for confirmation on what to do from DofReality, since it's such a new unit and you're having this issue.
From what I've read they seem to be supportive of their hardware, even if it takes some time to get the parts to you.

Igor has been supportive and quick to reply. He has offered to help by using TeamViewer to remote to my PC. But I feel that the problem is the fact that the motor is jammed up against the platform. I don't think any amount of software tinkering is going to release it. Hopefully I am wrong!!

The truth is, I am about to go to the 'Ring on Saturday and really wanted to get some laps in on the sim before I went!

I also like to try and resolve problems myself, i try to always learn something.

I'll loosen the bolts and see if it's going to come apart easily. If not, I'll have to wait for Igor.

But I do think that detaching the gearbox will allow me to sort it out.

Once again I have to thank you noorbeast as I'm finding USB Treeview invaluable with real-time hot pluggable results shown just like in device manager type view.
For those who want to download it I would avoid the latest version on the official website, it brought up a Trojan, but when I went to download Majorgeeks there was no issues :thumbs

This USB bandwidth issue for the P3 is costing me some serious money if I go for an Intel build so I thought I'd investigate AMD and I have to say I am very disappointed, not in the price performance ratio as that's a no-brainer nearly half the price AMD AM4 2700x compared to skylake i7 x7820, but in the fact that I haven't found a single AMD high-end board that has more than one USB controller!

That leaves me in the same position as my current mini ITX thunderbolt three single USB controller motherboard so it looks like Intel wins on the high-end gaming/workstation features.

Intel X299 socket 2066 generally have between two and four USB controllers (£385 gigabytes gaming 7 has for USB controllers) but the highest spec AMD X399 and z470 (£233 - £324) have 0 to 1 USB controllers!
So for about £60 difference I'm gaining an extra 3 to 4 USB controllers on-board free not PCI express slots and the need to purchase additional PCI's express USB cards that between £80 and £120 each.

But can anybody explain the lack of multiple USB controllers or even the lack of a semblance of a workstation motherboard on the AMD platform?

Anyway hopefully any future purchases with a mini ITX motherboard with no extra PCI express slots other than the one for the GPU can avoid this headache so they purchase their motion Sim.

Edit. Before I forget the reason external USB 3.0 hub wouldn't solve this problem is my current motherboard has a single host controller so they would be taking from the existing available lanes whereas the internal PCI express controllers USB hubs, which require at least a 4 x PCI express slot, wouldn't.

For those that use a Windows Mixed Reality VR headset with rig the new external camera view , video @ link "Mixed Reality Flashlight" feature is working on the "Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17723 (RS5)" july, and
"Windows 10 October 2018 Update Build 17760 (rs5_release) compatible with all Tencent" games released yesterday.
Not sure about Oculus and Vive users.
With the P3 and the Samsung VR I was totally immersed, gr8 fun. Now I don't have to take off the headset so much to look at real world, keyboard etc.

It didnt go to plan! Managed to remove motor from gearbox, managed to get the arm to move and reset its position. Used SMC3 to re-align the sensor. Re-attached motor to gearbox, rechecked calibration in SMC3 was all good.

Powered on the platform, used the "sine" option in SMC3 to test the motor, it started to move!! But only for a few seconds before stopping completely, after it stopped, I heard a loud pop, then an electrical burning smell filled the room! Something has gone pop in the control box.

Now I feel like bashing my head against the wall!!

I also have the samsung odyssey. Don't you need motion cancellation? or is it alright without?
    What games you played?

    Thanks!

motion cancelation its just an option for perfect race on most of this cases. This soft prevent incorrect movements and position for your head. So yes, all race games ( or trucks too ) can be assembly on any headset.

Optical10 refer to new function exclusive on native w10 update. This function, enable external view between headset and real world, within put off wmr. Vive and vive pro have this since lauch date. Rift dont have this option.

Ok, but you will need a sensor or some other solution. As far as i know motion cancilation only works with vive (rift update broke?) and not with the odyssey because of the way it does not have sensors.
Thats the reason i asked ;-)

I have a rift for roomscale games, but in the sim i use triplescreen and the samsung odyssey, because of the bump in resolution and fov. I know from Igor the P3 comes with a mount for the rift sensor, but i plan on using the Odyssey for the reasons above.

    Regards, Rob

Sorry about the delay, had major issues deciding which motherboard to buy as I currently don't have a working P3 solution due to USB issues.
When it was working I had no problems with motion cancellation, I thought that was if you had the sensors mounted on the rig and we have 6° by the headset itself?
I only managed to get dirt Rally working with it with the Revive oculus software enabler For windows mixed reality headsets, just google YouTube videos.

Okay guys I need a big favour I need your answers to this poll of which motherboards Chipsets you guys are using as it seems that the information I was given about how many holes controllers the motherboard has isn't the whole story it depends whether the USB host controllers are being controlled by the chipset alone or offset to the CPU making it a little bit more effective to share the bandwidth.

So if you could let me know are replying to this poll which chipset you're using and whether you had USB bandwidth issues requiring that you added a PCI express card to solve it please It would be much appreciated.

Can someone please suggest me some cool way/s to add effects to the DOF Reality rig ?
Like the motor vibrations feeling and all the other vibration feelings of a racing car?

    Thanks!

The best is a combination of a well sorted motion profile, plus transducers driven and tuned by Game Vibe.

Can you suggest a type/model of transducers and how many should be used?
