Don't know if anyone is using sabertooths with the old 1280's, but I though I would placed it here anyway. After a bit of work I have finally got both new and old 1280's working with Simtools 2.3 and the latest Firmware. Need the hexpod application to make it work with the old 1280, as if I connected it directly with Simtools - and it only did this in game o_O - worked fine in 'Output Testing' it would send erroneous game data to the old 1280 which 'pulsed' the motors erratically.

You can test the heXpod 1.9 for SimTools from here:
    http://hexpod.xyz
will ONLY work with AMC firmware 3.0 rev2a or above
use ONLY the new ID (FF FF)

    recommendation:

in the AMC menu "6DOF Start Pos" set the "Timeout" to 2.5

Hi @misoswan , see the link above to the hexpod website. I have a 6DOF and as far as I know the application is designed for a 6DOF.

Well not in my case, but it did take a bit of time with a multimeter to work out the new settings for the old 1280 - note that I'm using sabertooths.

    Value1,

Well, we still have an issue with the plugin. this time with the sway effect.

The video starts with the new version 2.0.3.8 of the plugin and somewhere in the middle of the video I am switching, for comparison, to the first version of the plugin.

Please observe the "Gload side" (tunning center's "sway" effect) behaviour.
This sway behaviour is correct in the first version of the plugin (the second half of the video example) but unfortunaltly in the v. 2.0.3.8 the values are dependent on the roll state. Bigger the bank angle bigger the sway value. That's really not realistic.

Thank you in advance for your precious help.

    Best - heXpod

@Thanos Just wondering if there is an easy way to wire the 1280 with my current limit switch and kill switch wiring ? Using SMC3 at the moment and the limit/kill switches connected to the 2x60's

Did you enable the limit switches in the latest firmware ?

I edited the very first posting (still a lot to do, @Thanos) and the thread is now pinned (after talking to Thanos, of course).

@Thanos: I also use 10 turn potentiometer (not for this test on the video, which is a standard 1-turn poti), why I can set 180° and 360° only (or does this not matter if using 10turn potis?)
I have set a lot of parameters now, still no output on M1A/B respectively M2A/B on the saberthooth - what I am doing wrong?

It's only a guess but If you leave the controller setting at 180, you could try to push the output field scaling slider in heXpod software from 180 to 3600.

I've never tested it with multi turn pots. It is scaling properly the signal for my 360 deg.

    Cheers

rgr, this makes sense. Thank you. On the other hand I studied the (outdated!!) manual (again) and have noted that my DIP settings are not correctly set for using with Sabertooth

DIP SW3 is off, should be on, because off means bi-directional method for VFD inverters?
DIP SW4 should be ON, enables the DC motor PWM outputs.

    Right?

PS: SW4 must be off and SW3 does nothing (respectively I could not determine a difference yet) . So I suppose I have to check the DIPs on the Sabertooth itself.

Since I was in Serial Mode mode I have nothing to change here ?!

Solved....Sabertooth DIP must be set to Analog (all ON so far). Now going for testing....
    it works.

Now I have to make some experience with the parameters (before I connect it to the rig...)

I hope I will not crash into my wall shortly, this is why I added limit switches turning off the the PSUs (just for my tables - or layers).

PS: next issue, I added a second pot and when I turn one pot both motors are moving, same with the other potentiometer. It seems that both are close-coupled.

Hmm, I'll check that, which version firmware do you have on the AMC?

@Thanos I have NOT installed the latest version, sorry. It is version enc_6dof_AMC1280USB_v3.0_rev1c.hex

PS: I installed now the latest firmware but the behavior is still the same.

@Thanos I will take a video showing you all steps and the issue. This is much easier for you and me and saves a lot of time. The video will be uploaded in a few minutes.
