Not exactly, but any balancing is way better than none.

    Good and I agree.
I have already bought my racing seat and it has rails so I can adjust it backwards and forwards for when friends etc come to use it.
Just need to buy the rig now.

Just remember Thug, it's not just balancing fore and aft, its balancing side to side as well and that take a little more work to get right.

Balancing front to back is simpler with seat rails however the further back you go with your seat means you may need to move the assembly above the universal joint forward and adjust the position of the pedals and the wheel as well, especially if you are going with a heavy direct drive wheel or similar. You also have to consider if you move your seat back to get the balance, you may then be taking wheel and pedal out of comfortable reach. Its a bit of a juggling act.

Then you need to consider the side to side balance. If you have a lot of equipment on one side or the other (shifters, handbrake etc) then you will have to move your seat more over to the opposite side. Do that and you are likely to want to shift your pedals and wheel to align with where you sit. But that of course puts more weight onto the opposite side. Again, this all takes a little time to get right. I'm not sure about the latest version of the DofReality rig but in the revision I have, there were only three holes each side of the seat mounting frames. To give more fine adjustment, I slotted those frames and added some additional holes through the frames where those frames mount to the main spine. Gave me a lot more adjustability.

Just dont expect the DofReality to be 'plug and play'.

For people that have this, how do you find it for fast small movements like kerbs, rumble strips, grass/dirt? I see a lot of the higher priced actuators can do all this stuff on a micro level to the point where it basically replaces the need for transducers. From all the videos I have seen on these DOF Reality motion rigs, they seem to be just that, a motion rig but not a complete simulator. Would you say this is true or can these micro details be tuned in with settings?

It sounds like an issue on the hardware side, pots, control boards or how they are configured. So I would suggest direct contact with the manufacturer @Radioproffi.

I would like to know this too.

I do have a Buttkicker (Pearl Throne Thumper) I could use though.

I also noticed that Simvibe can be set up to start other software, so can this also start up Simtools too for motion, or is it best doing it another way?

On a suitably powerful DC powered rig kerbs, rumble strips, grass/dirt simulation is possible with a refined motion profile: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/steps-to-create-a-motion-profile.228/

Has anyone had any issues with bending in the frame pieces that support the seat?

Starting to see that happen on mine after less than a month of use, i'm not a heavy guy!

Attached a pic, look at the area below the centre bolts.

Interesting, especially after the price increase.

I'm not sure when that occurred, but the M2 is now $899 USD up from $799 USD.

It must have been at some point during the last couple of months, as I was seriously considering buying one in mid-Sept.

DofReality obviously think they can charge more for the product which is obviously going through a cost cutting exercises. Unless of course your idea of 'not a heavy guy' is different to a Ukrainians idea of 'not a heavy guy'.

Most of the box section is too thin really with the section deforming when the bolts are tightened but I think that's a step too far.

I know that those seat frames were quite thick when I bought the rig because it was quite a lot of work for me to join up all the holes so they became slots.

I'm quite heavy really (90kg) and those rails didn't bend in that location for me.

I would be going back to DofReality and asking what the hell is going on.

I was just looking at your photo and I think there has been quite a lot of cost saving along the way since the version I have. Motors and gearboxes seem cheaper, no covers on pots. Im sure there are all sorts of other changes.

I also noticed an earlier version had a far better looking gear stick holder that looked like a piece of chrome exhaust, where the newer ones have a cheap looking F piece.
It also works out expensive for us in the UK as the delivery is around 3x that of the Prosimu T1000 3dof, and there will also be tax to add on too.

The Prosimu will cost me 3,008 euro (T1000 3dof, shifter bracket, delivery) = £2621
Where the DOF Reality will cost $3,310 (P3, bracket, delivery, 20% tax) = £2550

I have some serious thinking to do.

It may decide on who has the better black Friday deal.

Hi guys, I'm new to the Forum and to my DOFReality H3. Love the setup so far, but could use some pointers on issues to look out for. For example, I've noticed there is a lot of play in the 2-axis joint beneath the seat, which allows it to pivot a few degrees around the vertical axis. Is that normal? It doesn't seem to affect the quality of motion. Also, the traction loss wheels seem to be leaving a chalky white dust on the frame member they roll on - Not sure if this is ground up polystyrene foam from the packing material or are the wheels disintegrating already?

@DotComRich and @Thug , I find the DOFReality H3 does a decent job of simulating kerb heights and transitions between pavement / grass / gravel, but not down to a really fine level. You woudn't be able to feel individual rumble strip ridges, for example.

Thats weird, my P3 with hotas mounts and delivery to holland was around 2350 euro. and i did not see a price increase on the P3 when you fill in the buy form. Total was 2709 US

EDIT, i did not need to pay import tax i must mention

Are the traction-loss wheels small white nylon appearing material? If so, they are the old style wheels and the white dust you are seeing is most likely material from the wheels. These wheels do not last very long. The newer H3 has a different traction-loss wheel configuration (blue barrel type rollers).

I have an H3 which came with the white nylon wheels and had to replace them within a few months. I eventually modified my traction-loss setup to accommodate stainless steel rollers.
