You won’t be disappointed. The distortion issues I’m having is down to fit. I managed to resolve it by wearing the headset higher on my face and loosening the side straps. It’s not very comfortable or stable like that long term though. I need to add more foam at the bottom of the face pad as the lenses need to come out about half an inch from my cheekbones to resolve the distortion.

I have a new cable coming for the sparkling pixel issue. In games it’s a non issue though. It’s only really visible when looking at a static solid colour.

Thanks for the info, I guess I now need to start downloading the required software and having a read of the setup tutorials.

According to Kevin (Head of Pimax USA). There should be the newer version of Pitool out within the next few days. If you still on older Pitool prior to version 103 and can't w8. I think there is few Pimax forum members link it to their Google drive for ppl to download. Check out the thread here.

Gee I missed a lot of the discussion here. Getting pretty annoyed at the whole thing to be honest but at the end of the day many people have reported that as bad as the overall process has been, they are absolutely blown away by the product itself and how it compares to current offerings. As long as it provides an acceptable seated experience, even at low FOV for the time being until they can work out a solution for the possibly troublesome blurring (I've not yet seen it so can only assume from other users reports) I'll be happy. The deluxe straps for Vive and Pimax compatible now also come from Australia so if I find comfort an issue, I'll just grab one of those and the wait shouldn't be longer than a week.

We are getting all of those stretch goals but to be honest with the way Pimax has handled the situation thus far, I'd be surprised if we actually even see half of what we were promised and if we do, who knows when that will be. I might even have to bite the bullet and grab a Vive base station if everything else works out to be satisfactory.

Small FOV is said to be still a lot better than Oculus and will also give the added benefit of a higher FPS so for sim racing, this is probably ideal. I know the pull of the unit itself is its massive FOV compared to Vive and Rift, but if I can get just a slightly less tunneled vision to simulate a helmet, enough to be able to sight mirrors just by moving my eyes and maybe a slight head tilt, that would be cool.

Re the white dots, there are lots of mentions of this on the forum but I am unsure what they are doing about it. Is it an acceptable tolerance to have these displayed? Are they only visible when you are REALLY looking for them, on an all black background? The brainwarp seems to have been implemented really really good from what I've read so that's another amazing thing they've been able to include and this is even before I've received the unit. Which means we get to play with that from the get go.

I guess some of you guys will be posting some thoughts in the coming days? Hopefully, look forward to hearing them.

People have had their units arrive at their front door, with no shipping notification or confirmation whatsoever, only to receive that information literally weeks later via email.

I don't think we can take that a lack of shipping info confirms the unit is nowhere to be seen. It's a real circus but in the end hopefully worth it.

True, unfortunately I am away from home most of this week, part of next week and then move out on the 7/3/19, so am getting pretty concerned about Pimax ineptitude with respect to the Kickstarter, broken promises and shipping.

I am actually impressed that Pimax has done as well as it has with some of the technical challenges.

Yup, my tracking number email from Pimax just showed up several hours ago -- for a package that arrived 31 January. At the time I did get a notification from UPS the day before it arrived, but that's only because I specifically signed up for those -- and even then it said it was a package from USGOBUY so I wasn't sure it was really Pimax until the box got here.

Well it turned up, I plugged it in and it seems to be working fine - some distortion in the corners, but in-game I can not really notice it. Love the FOV, seems to fit OK on my face, but hate the head straps, as it makes it seem heavy when it is only 100g more then the Oculus. Already have a Aircraft helmet setup for my old Pimax where it is all supported/balanced by the helmet and just sits lightly on my face, so may give that a try. Still optimizing it for my favorite games, but looks promising so far.

You can 3D print parts to use the Vive Deluxe Audio Strap, I have mine printed and waiting but still no tracking number.

Have you a link to those files. I have to do something to fix the fit so might buy a delux audio strap. It’s so bad I’m wondering if my lenses or screens could have been fitted with some unintentional offset. I’ve to wear it so high on my forehead to get a clear image that I can see the lower part of the foam.

I don't own any Vive stuff, so not a option at the moment. The more I use it, it is by far the worse thing about the headset.
Mine is certainly different, or I may just have a face that fits their specs? When my nose is just touching the nose piece everything is in focus.

This is the main one. Note that the side clamps are available in two sizes, most folks use the shorter ones because the Vive strap is apparently a bit roomy for some heads.

I've also seen it suggested that if you go with the single-piece center strap adapter, the center bit with the pin needs to be flexible, and it's advisable to print it with that spring tab level to the bed so that it comes out as complete layers. If you just print the part flush on the bed it results in diagonal layers through the tab which makes it more likely to snap when you try to bend it. If you're going to order the parts from a commercial printer then the 2-piece (with a separate pin) version is probably the way to go since it's very unlikely to break and require a re-print or return.

Can anyone tell me if the DAS VR cover is a good fit on the Pimax? Does it attach to the face plate. I’m wondering if I should wait for VR cover to release a Pimax version.

Tracking number arrived for me too. Same as noorbeast, no info can be found. I think at this stage I just wait until the thing arrives. I've sent it to work so someone will always be there to accept it, I don't need to know where it is. Can't believe it's actually going to happen.
