Interesting point, also because I was testing both sides. I feared getting sick when motion is enabled, but the contrary was the case. After being on track for a while I tried the pimax without motion and I was pretty scared about the dead feeling...that said without motion it feels unnatural. Of course it depends how the motion platform is moving, if all is going not as it should nausea is to be expected.

I do not get nausea on my P6 (6 dof) without the headset.
I have never tried it with the pimax headset .

I think the getting sick differs from person to person, this is why I said , I AM worried about the lower frame rate

I have never tried the headset with my 6 dof rig activated . I only tried with the rig off .
I assumed to be worse for me but I did not test it yet

A properly tuned motion sim will help avoid motion sickness.

Motion sickness comes from your brain getting information that doesn't match from visual references (what you see) and your senses (vestibular etc.).

When you use VR your brain see's movement, but the body doesn't feel it and this mismatch can cause motion sickness. Motion sims help create the sensations that are missing and helps prevent getting sick. The better the motion sim and tuning, the more effective it will be.

I have one friend who can only play certain games even on a regular monitor because he gets motion sick in most, but he can fly my motion sim for hours without any problem.

I have no issues whatsoever on my sim chair. I do not suffer of any motion sickness on my chair. The headset / playing in the headset, makes me sick, on my regular chair

Seems Pimax is becoming less and less in the market now. We have tried and found that there was not much different between 2K and 4K actually.

Maybe lets wait for the full 8K to be released, before we write them off, also they are the only HMD with a wide FOV at this time - matters to me.

The latest generation of the pimax is the 8k and the 5k which are both a step ahead of any other headset on the market .
I have a vive , I have a quest and a ps4vr and an 8k of pimax and no question the 8k with its wide fov is better than all of them.

No one of the competitors 's headsets can give the immersion the 8k and 5k pimax fov give

It's funny, I had to go back to my Vive for a test, and even thought the FOV do not even compare, it's not what bugs me the most. It was how heavy and uncomfortable the Vive was compare to the Pimax. The Pimax is lighter and better balanced in my opinion.

Yes. U are right about that. I feel the same , also compared to the quest.

The only thing I miss of the vive is the tpcast / the wireless.

The pimax cable is a pain

Really wish I was able to afford a Pimax 5K+ in addition to the Index. I really really want that FOV but in the end I decided there was too much risk of having compatibility problems, performance problems, etc. with using any HMD that isn't "mainstream".

to be honest VR is great, especially the Pimax showing
Since I am only on racing games the Pimax 5k/8k are the first choice because (not only) of the FOV. Just imagine I can see both mirrors (and much more) in car, even I have not really to turn my head when overtaking. IMO Pimax offers the best high end value headset atm, unfortunately only the headset, no (deluxe) headstrap or controllers. For seated games nothing to worry about. For anyone else other HMDs could be a better solution (comfort, controllers etc.). VR is still under development, so there is not the only one "jack of all trades device"

Well, what I care most about is flight sims, after that racing sims so the Pimax would be great. I do also like to play other stuff as well though, so I'm really looking forward to the Knuckles controllers and I've also got Cybershoes coming.

As I said though, the main thing that made me go for the Index instead of Pimax was the guarantee of consistent and continued compatibility with SteamVR (for motion compensation) and all the games I want to play. Though Oculus damned exclusives are still a bit of a crapshoot via ReVive. What sucks is so many of the best VR games are Oculus exclusives (some of my favorites have been Lone Echo, Edge of Nowhere, Wilson's Heart) but thankfully we can play most of them with ReVive.

At this point mostly I'm just hoping the FoV increase with Index is noticeable vs. OG Vive with super thin facial interface. I imagine from what I've read it's going to be kinda like when I went from Rift CV1 to Vive. I didn't feel like it was a noticeable increase, but when I used the Rift again a couple months later I felt like it was a significant downgrade in FoV. That's pretty much exactly how RoadtoVR described the difference with Index.

I asked for it in their survey. Maybe it's because of me!
I have to update everything and test it out!

I downloaded the new Pitool and I tested the new compensation system. It's great. You simply clic on the "compensation" button and a dropdown appears. You select one of the controlers and the world locks to it. They have 2 new icon for the trackers. I guess that if I had a tracker paired, it would appears in the drop down. So simple. Thanks Pimax.

My rig is still in restructuration, so I could not test how good it was, but this it's so promising.

Also, my friend brought his Oculus Quest at my home so I can test it. What a great piece of equipement. The FOV is ordinary, okay; with a big gap under the nose, okay; the resolution is not out of this world, okay; but, the ease of use is incredible. The tracking is quite good (but I tested it only 10 min) and the setup is a breeze. The see through the camera is so cool. You set the room with a laser pointing at the ground, brilliant. My friend connected to my wifi and they all could see what I was seeing on is phone, party fun. We could have broadcast to my TV with a usb receiver. It's comfortable and light. No cable. All fits in a little bag. I was really impressed. Too bad I have too many things to buy right now, cause I would get one. The casual gamer VR headset.

Anyway, back to the Pimax. I'll try to make a little temporary set up on my rig to test the stability.
