    In this post I will show you the conversion from SimLab GT2 rig to 2DOF.
    First I have examine the options on how should I have done it since the problem is that the GT2 rig is compact and I did not want to make it biffier. I have got a lot of usefull info from this build https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/my-project-2dof.13425/
    This was the original look of it.

    First I have tried to design the mechanical things to be able to mount motors and design the arms/shafts for them. Since the pictures says more than thousand words this is the result of the temp solution I have come with. It is still not 100% fixed but till now it looks like it will be the best one to mount the motors to the rig.
    The arms are made out of alu and are adjustable. A was able to design the rig so that the whole platform will be just around 5cm higher.

    To mount the pots to the motors I have designed the mounts for hall pots. You can find the files on https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3921212 Some were downloaded from other designs like for the e-brake.

    To mount the seat I have used a pivot mounting bracket that you can also see in the pictures with ruler so you can get the impression how big is it.

    I will be also able to fit the bassshakers to the rig. They will be mounted under the seat and will be able so transfer the shakes more efficient since they will be in direct contact with seat mount and will not transfer the bass through pivot mount. They will be also cooled since they can get hot.

    Since those motors are not self locking I am going to use some kind of belt tensioning to keep the seat in center.
    For now I am happy with the look and feel of he mount design of motors to the rig and my next post will be how I have designed the control box unit.

    The second stage was to design the 2DOF control box.
    I have used old box that was thrown away and modified it to fit all the components.

    Below you can see the pictures but basically it has a 24v 600W power supply, 12v fan controller box with alarm if the fans stops spinning, 2x silent fans, 2x IBT2 pwm controllers, ardino, kill switch connected to 220v with front mount diode to signal if kill switch is active, 5010 diode to protect from power supply tripping and illuminated on/off switch.

    Front plate, arms, fan brackes and some other parts were 3d printed.
    Before the final assemble it was painted.

    Now the next step is to test motors outside the rig, final mount the gt2 rig, create balanced tensioners and also apply for the SimTools license.

    They are custom made. My friend did them for me. Source files for arms are available on thingeverse.
    For pivot mounts you can see on the pictures with the ruler how big they are. I can measure them for exact numbers. I have draw them quickly on the paper and he made them.

    Today I have got the license for the simtool. TNX about that. Now I have to earn enough coins to be able to download plugins :( Is there an option to get for testing just f1 2018 plugin and dirt rally 2?

    Hi. No not yet. I have a lot of real life work :( and kiddos to manage.
    And I am also waiting for some additional parts like springs and special bolts from Aliexpress. Hope those will balance the seat. Otherwise I have received the license so I only have to find time to do it.
    But will keep you posted so you can also build if you would like to build it.

    Hi. I was busy so my project stall. I also have to order some other parts like special screw, tensioners, audio jacks for bass shakers. During the development I have burned two motor drivers :). The cause was wrongly configured motor parameters in smc3 config utility. So for all the makers configure motors before mounting them.
    Here are pictures of the project where you can see the near final product. Since the platform is now 5cm higher I will also lift pedals for around 2,5cm (will 3d print spacers) to compensate the high. I still think that raising the platform for only 5cm is a very good result.
    Also have to do some additional fixing of the screen holder and complete the wiring to be as clean as possible.

    Hi. Here are a few small modifications in pictures. May bee someone will find any ideas for their project.

    - standoffs for monitor to eliminate vibrations
    - mounts to fix monitor angle made out of children toys (black painted and mounted - those with four holes).
    - 3d printed raisers for pedals to compensate additional high that was introduced with raised seat because of motion platform.
    - charger for phone going into orico usb hub (this one will be also used in the future for additional gear - diy handbrake https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/diy-handbrake-from-aliexpress.14000/ (have to figure how to mount but it is already working), small and compact wind simulator made our of four x355x server fans - POC already done).
    - fans for basshakers are controlled from the old zalman panel mounted in the chieftech computer housing and are controlled by 5v, off or 12v and are separated to front and back.

    Wind simulator.

    I have made a small compact wind simulator. I did not want to use big fans because since sim rig is compact I have also to make a compact wind simulator. Have tested with server fans but they are too powerful and thy do need higher current to start.
    So I have used in this small project four fans from old x3550 m2 ibm series that was thrown away.
    Those fans uses 1,1A and 12v per fan. I have two on each side and all four outputs on arduino.
    The are very powerful. At 12V full power they are quite loud but I doubt that I will need full 12v power. With this setup I will be able to use four separate effects.
    The controller is standard with on/off button and external led (have removed the one inside). For mounting arms I have used flexing helping hands and inside them have made wiring so no cables everywhere.
    To make them strong I have also put inside the flex arm a stronger wire for support. For cable attachment I have used one side connectors. For fan mounts another two kids bricks were used. Drill the holes inside those bricks and insert inserts for screws. Parts in grey were 3d printed..
    The whole project was really cheap, I doubt that the material cost was more than 10€.
    The PWM frequency used is 100-400hz. ATM I have 100hz.

    Made a small modification on hiding the wires into the alu profile so even less wires.
    Have also made a quick soldering fume extractor, need to add active ashes filter, but for now it is ok.

    There are few more pictures with wind simulator mounted. I have to say that it works really great with 4 separate outputs since you can define corner and speed wind separately. It is very powerful even at low speed. I would recommend those vents since they are also small.
    I have also made a button to power on the computer since it is hard to rich the power button on the computer itself.
    There is also a photo of modded gas pedal that you can download.
