Hello fellow DOFR people! I recently got an H2 and am loving it. A couple of things:

First, on their website they reference compatibility with F1 pose but there's nothing about it in the build docs and I don't see how that would work in terms of changing anything to do with the construction. I would like my pedals to be higher and/or seat lower relative to them.

Second, I saw a lot of discussion around lash and I see what people mean. It's not too bad but it's there. A tip I found though: On the gear arms there is a second hole to increase weight handling at the expense of movement range. It occurred to me that with less leverage the gear lash would be felt less and indeed I find the difference quite noticeable and the movement range still to be more than enough. Worth a try for anyone bothered by it. Apologies if this is well known/obvious.

I'm guessing you can construct it so that the central bar which is parallel with your legs is mounted 'upsides down' so that the kink goes up rather than down as it reaches the pedals. Never tried it though.

Oh ya I didn’t think of that, thanks. I did try inverting the rear cross beam that main beam sits on so that the seat sat lower but it felt weird with the seat tilted so far back.

I thought vibration was an issue with mounting the cameras on rigs due to the motion being to small for MC to catch. is that not an issue anymore? it seems like such an easy fix but with light house tracking I dont think we can even mount them on a rig because they dont like to move once in place.

I have my cameras mounted on the yoke shelf and they work pretty well. I still have some position shifting in the HMD on larger movements, but, no too badly.

That's right, you wouldn't mount Lighthouses on the rig. You mount a controller on it so the controller's motion is used to cancel that of the headset.

I understand mounting the controllers as that is what I will do even though the yawvr chair has a imu on the chair Im not sure it works so good but not tested yet. I just thoiught that the cameras mounted on the rig had issues with vibration and MC maybe causing drift. But I guess thats not an issue.

I believe CV1 cameras do work when mounted (my H2 came with a camera mount) but not sure about vibration issues. You shouldn't need MC with that setup.

oh I see you wouldnt need the MC due to the camera physically moving with the rig. lol not sure why I was seeing post about issues with vibration and motion control maybe it was due to people using both I didnt even think of that.

I recently got my H3 setup and enjoy it, but I'm noticing the shaking on pitch down movements even with the optional gas struts installed and set to max. It does help the jerkyness, but doesn't prevent the feeling of 'stepping' when you're going down a hill in project cars2 etc. In my video below, I went into Simtools to see what might be going on, and on pitch-up, it's perfectly smooth. On pitch-down, you can see the #1 motor moves first. I'm guessing this exacerbates the jerky feeling. The #1 initial movement happens anywhere on the downward stroke. I reached out to DOFReality in hopes that something can be done. I'm even willing to upgrade to the P3 motors if it alleviates it.

If it helps I can take a video of when I'm in Project Cars 2, Assetto, or NoLimits, and anytime I'm going downhill the stepping feeling is quite apparent.

    Some side questions:
    * Has anyone tried the H vs P motors to see if there is any better gear movement and smoothness to be had?
    * For those that upgrade from H3/P3 to the H6/P6, is the lesser motion range noticeable in games? Banking up/down hills in racing games is neat, but with the limited axis availability and range of motion, I notice the dampening of other effects as I'm going up/down.

I was worried about that too, but with a well fitting bucket, the elbows are actually outside the bucket, so they don't hit. The bucket does limit the rearward motion of your arm though.

I went with a Bimarco Cobra 3. Much recommended for European users. They are the cheapest buckets available factory direct via bimarco.eu

Hi Manny, I only have the P motors so I can't give a comparison, but I don't get the stepping that you're describing. I doubt changing the motors will help though, I wonder if the stepping is being caused by your rig being off balance - i.e. if there is more weight over one motor or a mismatch in the force being exerted with the gas strut, one side will take up the slack (backlash) in the gear box first and could produce this sort of stepping. It may be worth adjusting the gas struts to different values or testing the rig with weight over one side and then the other to see if this affects which motor moves first. In theory, if your rig is well balanced over the centre, the motors should move in unison.

With a 2 or 3 DOF motion sim, pitch is often used for both pitch (going up a hill) and surge (accelerating). The maximum effect you will get is when the levers are at 100% of their travel and it is up to you how to tune this to weigh up the feeling of acceleration and incline. If you don't get a good enough feeling of acceleration when zooming up a hill, it will be necessary to dial down the amount of axis that pitch uses which will of course give a lesser feeling of incline. Usually for racing sims, surge is more important than pitch and small, fast movements are preferable than larger, slower ones. Some sim racers with motion rigs will have very little movement dedicated to pitch and roll, these are much more important when it comes to flight sims however.

If you don't get a satisfactory enough feeling after tuning and find that certain DOF movements are too subtle, then your only real option would be upgrading to an H6 (As this can use surge as well as pitch), changing to a simulator capable of larger movements (Or writing off your free time for the next year or two and building your own!), or adding some sort of G-Seat system.

    Hello guys.

Is there anyone here that has the 1st version of the dofreality P6/H6 and that is facing the same issue I have with mounting the 3rd Damper on each side ?

What have you used to properly mount the 3rd damper (3 in total, 1 on each side) on your old version of the p6/h6 ?

Unfortunately the solution has been given me to mount the 3 dampers, does not satisfy me/it puzzles me.

    Thanks

Screenshot_20200822-205520_QuickPic.jpg Screenshot_20200821-202624_WhatsApp.jpg You have a later version of the p6.

Mine does not mount the 3rd damper in the center.

The problem with my version is how to connect the 3rd damper to the center bolt at the bottom of my frame.

They sent me a bar that does fit only the new model of P6 (it is too short for my p6 - see attached picture) and then they sent me a screw that has a slack.

If i would have understood back in time that this rig would have been such a pain because in need of DIY work on my end, i would have made diffefent choices.

This is a still an ongoing issue for me, at least 3 months after I brought up that i had this issue

Is there a market for selling it?

Is it coming out that i am pissed off about it?

Does anyone have problems using SimTools 2.4.1 with the Dofreality P3/P6?
Getting really strange behaviour in Output test.

Going back to 2.3.1 fixed it , but want to use latest version of SimTools.

    Thanks and nice greetz

A range of members have reported some issues following a recent Windows update, with rolling back SimTools resolving those, I am not aware of a SimTools fix just yet: https://www.xsimulator.net/communit...04-from-1909-intensity-slider-problems.14795/

    Hi,
Newbie here. After extensive research (i.e. reading this forum) I want to purchased an H3.
Any advice on shipping costs to Australia, in particular how or when I pay the GST, as I haven't made an overseas purchase requiring GST. What do I do for the customs declaration form, for example?
Anyone in Oz who has purchased one since the new GST rules came into effect? Also, what was your shipping time to Australia (months?).
    Thanks

Well I got my H3 and it's up and working.
How do I balance this? The left motor #1 is getting very hot. Any youtube clips (found some for M2, but didn't help, and had someone hold my chair, but that didn't help either.)
