Nice man! yeah that would work also. I would have gone the same route but i already had my linear bearings from previous build so mose well use them up. They are nice and strong too so no biggy. I thought about mounting mine on the inside like cannibal but i wanted the extra 10mm of travel. it all adds up haha. I have 100mm less to play with then he does so don't have that luxury :D I think you might just be ok with 640mm screws. But like Cannibal said just check your measurements to make sure you're clearing everything and its reaching the bottom without touching up at the other end.

Also is that just normal PVC pipe? like thin wall stuff? Be careful as that shit will just explode if it is haha.

@Sam Neall It's not that much bigger than a 2DOF.. do it!! hehe

Thanks @Cannibal Smurf for helping answer some stuff. Haven't had much time to get on here lately lol. It's probably a lot fresher in your memory anyway as you've just been through the process recently :)

No this is the same as yours pipe I believe. It's DWS pipe so it's pretty thick. Schedule 40 I think. Thanks for your input. I do have 640mm ball screws coming and just received my servos and igus bearings for the uppers. so i'm getting excited.

Ahh good! just making sure beause it looks very white and here in Oz the white stuff is the thin cheap stuff. I remember when i was young and i made a potato canon out of this stuff instead of the DWS and the first shot the barrel exploded into a million pieces haha. Lesson learnt :D.
Exciting times ahead man! hope it all goes well.

Thank you for sharing your very inspiring rig with us. I have a question, could you share your servodrive settings with us? I want to buy the same set, but I would like to know your settings to benefit from your experience. That would be very kind of you.

@Cannibal Smurf was looking at this and was wondering what you did for the donut and how/where it was installed. Is it just a printed piece pressed into the tube to prevent the screw from slapping? This is what I was envisioning at least.

@eloverphx , I 3D printed a 'donut' that fit snug over the ballscrew end and has about 0.5mm (I don't know what that is in yankeeland measurements, I think it's about 231/5 trump shlongs :D) clearance, secured with a circlip.

Haha. Trump is an idiot. And that’s probably the size of his brain. But don’t need to open that can of worms.

Here is my uv joint for the base of the actuator. Working off silent chills design. I’m just hoping I get enough angle out of it! :)

I used that design but altered it a little (filleting the internal corners to make them a bit stronger) and added some chamfers to increase the maximum angle.
I'll upload my stl files to a google drive soon and send you a link if you like.

Thanks I guess I should have asked sooner. I already have all of these printed out and made the adjustments to meet up with the all thread that comes off the motor. I was noticing that the motor pipes I got are 200 mm long. Watching the video again peacemaker uses 160mm so I’m thinking of trimming mine down so it isn’t so long. Did you leave yours long at all?

No, I wasn't sure of the exact length I'd need when I ordered, so I just went a bit longer (200mm) and cut them down to 160mm when they arrived.

Got Bored the other day and started working on my next design. going to start ordering some bits soon to build a prototype. Still early days yet. Basically the idea here is to have the ballscrew secured at both ends hoping for smoother and quieter operation. I would like to design a universal joint system for the top end as well to replace the rose joint. Slowly but surely i'll get there.. one day. just hell busy lately. I'll keep you's updated as i make more progress.

I think this will be the ultimative design for the next gen DIY sims here!! I love the idea with 3 rods instead of four! Also the 10mm ballscrew will be more quiet.
    Great design!

    I'm falling behind!
Everyone making new rigs... And me with the "old" one.
Seems I need to test some ideas.
