Wow, great looking actuator. That would be very cool. Maybe for my next build! Ha this will be the one and only for me. Unless I find friends in the area that are going to be paying for it. Have you found issues with using the rose joint or are you just looking for something different? I haven’t ordered any rose joints yet and am waiting for my ball screws still so if you recommend agains the ball joint let me know. Thanks for all your work on this.

Thanks man, yeah i liked the 3 rod look. was a bit tricky because of the ball nut hole spacing but i managed to still pickup 4 holes on it, just not uniformly. I am trying to find a ball nut that has the 360 degree flange on it without the cut outs, might be better to work with. I've seen them before but now struggle to find them anywhere. Will have to ask around some sellers. Quick question.. Does your base move at all? like lift or anything? I'm probably going to do a similar design base yo yours as well. I do like its minimalist look and feel.

@pmvcda I'll be very interested to see what you come up with if you make a next iteration, Thats for sure :) I'm fairly happy with mine at the moment but as i want to go longer ballscrews i thought i'd take the opportunity to try out a new design and smooth things out. Why not ey?! :)

Haha yeah mate, you'll be fine. You just have to pick an idea and stick with it till the end. The rate at which new ideas and designs are formed is hard to keep up with and if you keep changing your plan every 2 weeks you'll never get finished hehe.

    Hey there,

The ballnut shapes SFI/DFI, SFV/DFV and SFM/DFM should be available with a round flange. Unfortunately a lot of chinese sellers call everything "SFU" even if it is a different shape and the aliexpress/alibaba search algorithms are the worst. SFI1610 is apparently a stepper motor, that has neither "sfi" nor "1610" in its name or description -.-

Awesome man! Thanks. So SFI1610 is the round flange version? That's what I've been trying to figure out. But like you said aliexpress don't really list anything but sfu. Thanks for the link, I'll hit up the seller for a quote :)

SFI can be both, round or with one or two flats, it's just the general shape of the nut and has to be specified further. I think evey manufacturer that has one of the three types I listed above in their portfolio should be able to do the round version.

Well just got my screws today finally! A little over a month to cross the ocean! Ordered the misc hardware so hopefully I will start assembling my first actuator this weekend or next. I have enough plastic parts printed for 3 for now so I figured that would be a good start to see what parts I need and what I need to adjust! The bottom UV joint I noticed silentchill recessed his nuts. I missed that when I did mine prints so I think I might just make a plastic spacer to make up for the nuts. How's your build coming along? Have you started building a frame yet?

Hey peacemaker, @Cannibal Smurf and @SilentChill what lube do you use on your ball screws? I’m assembling my actuators now that I have most of my parts and would like to make sure I don’t miss using a good lube.

I have all the bolts going through the bottom UV joint also going through the base frame, so no need for a spacer or recessed nuts.

Great news! Progress is always good.
There should be an M6 threaded hole for a grease nipple on the ballscrew nut.

@eloverphx , Hell no would I trust self tappers.

As I mentioned before, the u-bolts holding the universal cross into the 3D printed lower uni joint go right through the base frame. But I also added 4 x M6 bolts with nylock nuts.

I’m not at that stage yet, but I threw one together just now to take a couple of pics for you.

I was actually considering including a note to @Peacemaker105 apologising for hijacking his thread. I will start my own thread in the next couple of weeks. I guess since my design is based on @Peacemaker105 's build, @eloverphx was asking open questions in here relating to both builds.

Look i dont mind at all, as long as its on topic for working with and improving my design then it should benefit all going forward. But at some point you'll want to show off your build and should create a thread so people can admire it and ask you questions about things you've done differently along the way. I am fairly busy lately and you guys have helped answer some questions in a more timely manner than me so i'm grateful for that :)

Can't wait for the unveiling! haha

Hey mate, sorry I don't do phone calls. Everything you need to know is on this website. Research, research and research some more. Wrap your head around what you're going to build and if its something your skills and knowledge will allow. Choose a path and then ask questions along the way. Ask in build threads so when you get answers it helps others out with similar questions. Others that also have the ability to help will also chime in with answers too. Thats how this DIY scene works. A group of collective minds shooting ideas and experience around.. like a big borg cube .

It's all listed in the parts list on the first post, like most build threads. 500mm. most are going 600mm these days, myself as well soon.
The Thanos AMC board is near always out of stock as its very popular. theres only 2 places that sell it https://www.stealth-motion.eu and
https://www.thanos-motion.com (has some in stock but may not ship to your country)
Have you emailed them to ask when stock is due or if you can get a preorder for next batch? Alternatively you could message @Thanos here and ask him personally.

If you aren't comfortable doing DIY then i'd suggest looking at an already built actuator like PT Actuators http://www.pt-actuator.com/products/Scorpion_Actuator_Kits/2020/0722/216.html or an already built whole kit.
Then just build your frame. This is not something we just woke up and built over breakfast. It takes months of planning and research and designing and assembly, hundreds of hours. If you need help with things like welding and wiring etc then reach out to a friend that may know. It may look easy on the outside but there is a lot more to it than meets the eye. That's the hardware side of it.. then you have to get into software side and tuning etc which can be just as challenging.
