Old Newbie Here, Hello Everyone, Thank you for letting me in...

*Can someone please offer guidance to me to setup the Yaw VR with simtools and DCS World????

I just wanted to re-live the late 1980-90s when I used to play "Falcon 3" F16 on my PC and now I'm in it deep! Help! I wonder how many people know that game or even were born yet.

I think the software maker was Holobyte, back when getting over 100mhz required the installation of a math coprocessor chip and 4mb of ram was $150 and BestBuy had rows of PC you could buy and setup same day. ..then AOL disks came in the mail like any junk mail you see today...then your grandmother was emailing...mind-blowing and they just started making accurate clocks about 100 years ago that lasted more than 30 days without winding.

    HAhahaharruugfff. Sorry. I digress, back

So I have been playing DCS World and MSFS2020 in VR and love it with the voice command plugin I have, DCS World works great with my RTX3080. MSFS2020 is on the list as setup second, but DCS World is really what I'm targeting first. So I purchases a Yaw VR and its the opposite of Pug and play:

my simulator is a YawVR with 3DoF.

Some Software installed is Simtools (inDemo mode), Virtual desktop ,VRopen for MC, Yaw vr software,Steam VR, however I have never been able to see the VROpen menu, it just opens steam..we can work on MC later I guess after basics.

Do I have to buy the Simtools before I know its going to work with my setup? What does demo mode allow you to do, I don't mind paying if Im going to actually use the software..

I got this far... Simtools "output tests" actually move simulator seat around,

*Can someone please offer guidance to me to setup the Yaw VR with simtools???? Example is Download this and that, watch this video, use these presets to start. I find these sites are great but have so much info, and sometimes a guy can end of following some outdated info. *

    Thank you again,
    Dan

Here is an existing YawVR summary thread, hopefully other YawVR owners can jump in and assist: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/yaw-vr-standart-edition.13856/

First grab the SimTools manual and keep it handy for reference: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/rtfm-start-with-the-official-simtools-documentation.117/

The demo version of SimTools has the fully function plugin for Live For Speed, specifically for testing purposes: https://www.lfs.net/downloads

Make sure you run a LFS race in first person mode before patching it for motion, as that generates some required files: https://www.xsimulator.net/communit...run-in-first-person-mode-before-patching.365/

Here are some handy hints on how to refine motion profiles, if YawVR has not provided presets: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/steps-to-create-a-motion-profile.228/

I believe theses are the basic YawVR interface settings for SimTools:

And there is a Yaw VR interface to ease YAW VR setup, the version posted in thisforum is outdated so I will paste link to YAW VR forum maker thread wich is most up to date version.

    @noorbeast & @Dani,

Thank you, the Yaw is now working with my DCS 2.7 including my paid modules. I did it without the VR headset so I have to incorporate the Quest 2 into the package.

I have to wait for a replacement part from the factory for the Yaw before I can sit in it. I will explain after all is cleared with the manufacture, dont want to tick them off...

I wanted to drop you all a post saying thank you for offering your time and info.

I think they now have a choice in the "Interface Type" that is named Yaw VR (i didnt type that name into the box) and I just selected that choice and it setup for the Yaw. in other words I never entered the IP address and Im using wifi, no ethernet cable on base just to be clear...what is that for anyway, does it take the place the trackers wifi or what?

You can get the YawVR onto your network over wifi or ethernet. Some people claim to have smoother motion over ethernet.

@KydDynoMyte do you know the Yaw , so does that mean there are two connections it needs? One is the tracker the other is the base? And ... Why didn’t they make the tracker with usb built in ? Is that not obvious?

@Dan B You need just one or the other. You can choose to use the wifi or the ethernet to get on your local network. The tracker in the chair part connects to the base over bluetooth. The tracker doesn't have usb built-in because it needs to be wireless for the 360° yaw axis to be able to spin and spin. The charging port used to be micro usb but was prone to breaking off. Newer units have a barrel charge port.

@KydDynoMyte , Sorry I didnt explain, why didnt they use the wireless feature of the shell mounted tracker to supply a usb port to allow the user to plug in a joystick or vr headset if wanted....not to replace the charging cable or method..arent people adding rasberry pi units and a battery to geto usb wireless during game play?
