@pmvcda Nice!!! Thanks for the link. I am away for a couple of weeks but when I return I will check it out.

@Captain Jack not really a matter of finishing, like all builds it is an issue of continuing :grin

Upgrade of my Upgrade Time! Er...yeah...

My cockpit on the motion base is getting a bit...busy. So I decided to upgrade the cockpit with a aluminum profile kit from GT Omega, the Prime model. This means that yes....for the first time -Ever- my simpit will be completely without wooden parts. I KNOW RIGHT?!!! Amazing, and a bit sad....

The price for the cockpit is pretty reasonable considering it includes a well built seat that actually fits me. There were reports of a weak pedal deck but they seem to have increased the thickness of the steel as well as added more cross braces so it feels pretty sturdy to me.

Shipping was free, adding a great deal to the value and it was really quick. Twelve hours after payment UPS showed that it was in their possession. And part of it still is...unfortunately UPS has lost one of the four boxes that GT Omega sent. That was four days ago so hopefully soon they will find and deliver the last box.

Meanwhile here is what I have:

    Still rough but getting there.

The left side has a handy door to get in and out. I offset the wheel deck support to give my giant clown shoes enough room to get in and out

HAHAHA looking at my pictures I just realized that I REALLY should have cleaned up the mess a bit. It will be neat and tidy by the time I finish it. (HA, as you know simpits are NEVER finished, MUAHHAHHHAAA)

Haha, thanks Thanos. But that is supposed to be my man cave not my lab. Although I might rename it to the Mad Scientist Lair ;) (funny enough; my wife actually is a scientist....so I wonder if I can get decorations from one of her labs)

    This is the lab/workshop:

I don't think so. Not until you have provided a video of this beast in action. :)

Maybe stuff the seat with a bunny and have it move on a replay race ;)

Well...shoot. Finally made a video. I really need to lose some of that tummy. :p

I forgot that I had messed about with my pitch settings so I kept hitting the stops in this video. Please forgive me.

    Well done !!

And before anyone watching say the horizontal actuators as not moving, (I though so myself), please zoom in, they do move. Just no exaggerated-visually-satisfying-motion that most viewers may seek to see. For VR headsets smaller more subtle movements, are enough for the pilot (is this video).

They do move, a lot. But mostly for sway motion rather than Yaw. I was going to do a racing game, AC or iRacing to show really violent motion but I did not yet have them reinstalled after a PC upgrade.
