I have a steel frame made with a seat and my steering wheel but plan on rebuilding it out of the extruded aluminum.

Looking for some advice... I am using the MotoMonster shield which is 16v... I cant seem to find a 16v power supply. I would use a 12v power supply but the motors I am using have brakes built in and in order to disengage the brakes it needs 16v or greater. Should I ditch the MM shield and go with something that can handle 24v?

remove the brakes - you should not need them

consider raising the motors up a bit so you can get longer crank arms fitted

I did remove the brakes right after I posted haha... as far as longer arms how long should the arms be do you think 6 inches, 8 inches, 10 inches? I am 3d printing arms right now just for testing but will hopefully get them laser cut out of steel once everything is fitted and set up properly.

It depends a bit on the design dimensions, have a play with SimCalc: https://www.xsimulator.net/communit...e-linear-speed-and-forces-of-your-design.270/

But for a compact design rig with those motors try about 60mm CTC on the levers.

The link was very useful, thank you very much, and I want to ask you a question, I already looked at several publications but I'm stuck in the .ino for the arduino, I don't know if I'm already dizzy or what the problem is but I don't know where to download it, and the doubt bigger is if I have to load the .ino in my arduino and to do so pay a license and the same with Sim Tools. Thanks for the help. The software is complicated for me, otherwise I already have everything.

The FAQs are a great resource. There are a number of Arduino code options, but I would suggest you try SMC3 first, as it is well documented, supports a range of controllers, has a handy program to ease configuration, and many members here use it: http://www.xsimulator.net/community...3dof-motor-driver-and-windows-utilities.4957/

Just so you know an eligibility criteria applies but when your build and thread meet all the criteria you can apply for a free DIY SimTools license: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/request-a-free-diy-simtools-2-0-license.263/

I got my chair up and running but am having a weird issue where i almost complete a lap in LFS and one of my motors just shuts down. So I have a few questions...

Does the max limits in SMC3 matter? For example is my chair hitting the limit and shutting down that motor?

Every time I edit the LFS profile do I have to uninstall and reinstall the patch? Reason I ask is if I set everything to zero and just have pitch going it seems like its still making all the other motions.

Last question I would like to get the simchair working with beamng whats my next steps? Get my free license and then download the BeamNG.drive plugin?

Yes the SMC3 limits matter and will trip if exceeded, as a safety response, see the explanation for all SMC3 settings in the second post: https://www.xsimulator.net/communit...driver-and-windows-utilities.4957/#post-48121

No you do not need to re-patch after changing settings. You can use the button top left of Game Manager while a game is running to disconnect SimTools, make whatever setting changes you want, then use the same button to reconnect SimTools with the new settings to the already running game.

Thank you so much for the response that will make tuning a lot easier. Im starting to think i am having a thermal shutdown issue if i feel the motor driver it is very hot. It also kills the motor random for example I was on a straight away and one of the motors just quit. Not sure what to do I could add some heatsinks and a fan and see if it corrects the issue or buy a bulkier motor driver just not sure what would be a good one.

If you are using MMs they must have heatsinks and fans.

I have everything below set to 0 but my chair is still moving is it because on the main tab I have that at 50? I am trying to get more sway when I turn but its hard to adjust when the chair is moving every direction lol.
