    ~ Official SimTools v3 Public Beta Thread ~​

    A little SimTools v3 Info:
    v3 is a complete, more modern, rewrite of SimTools.
    v3 is streamlined, to be easier to understand, with more of a 'pictorial' menu system.
    v3 can be used Side by Side with v2. (But not running at the same time.)
    v3 is a Free upgrade for all v2 license holders (works with both v2 and v3 licenses)

    SimTools v3 combines GameEngine, GameManager, GameDash, GameVibe, the PluginInstaller and CompanyTools into a single app. It also contains a built-in plugin distribution system and live updates for SimTools and all of the plugins.

    New game plugins are required for SimTools v3.
    (v2 plugins only work in SimTools v2, and v3 plugins only work in SimTools v3.)

    So, what’s not done yet?
    - Skinning
    - Reviewing all the vibe algorithms for making sounds.

    ~ Quick Start Instructions ~
    Warning: If you are currently running the SimTools v3 Alpha, you will need to completely remove it before installing the Beta of SimTools v3.​

    1) Install SimTools v3. You can download it from here: Download SimTools v3
    2) Register the software if you have a v2 or v3 license, or skip registration and continue in DEMO mode.
    3) Go to the Plugin Manager and Install an Interface Plugin, an Axis Plugin and a Game Plugin.
    4) Go to Interface Setup, Select the Interface Plugin you installed from the drop-down list, and Configure the Interface Settings for output.
    5) Go to the Motion Settings for the game you installed, Select the Axis Plugin you installed from the drop-down list, and Configure the Axis Assignments for output.
    6) Double-Click the Play button to launch a game with SimTools.


    ~ A little about SimTools v3 ~
    The biggest change in v3 is in the dash system. The dash system now has over 100 inputs possible with 14 “anything you want” inputs and a slew of pre-defined inputs available. But why would we want this? Well now we can setup a speed fan, for example, and any game plugin that supports the speed input will result in our speed fan working. We no longer need to setup the dash output system per game, making it a lot easier to use.

    ~ A little about Game Plugins types ~
    All game plugins are now classified as an Air, Land or Sea type of plugin. All ‘Air’ type plugins now have two Max/Min profiles for the game. One profile for on the runway (ground) and one profile for in the air.

    ~ A little about Profile Inheritance ~
    You can save a Global Profile for all 3 types of plugin types, Air, Land or Sea. When new game plugin is installed, its Default profile will be created from the Global profile of the same type if it exists. From there, when a new profile is needed for Auto Profiling, a profile is auto created from the Default profile for the current game selected.

    Interface Setup
    All interfaces for Motion, Dash and Vibe are setup here.

    Error Logging
    If you see the errors detected icon blink and turn on, you can go here to see what has been reported as the error.

    Time Keeping
    Ever wanted to know exactly how much ride time you have had on your simulator (per game) between two dates? Now you can. (Ride Time is only counted when at least one interface is running, and the game is reported as active from the plugin.)

    Registration
    This is where you use your license to unlock the SimTools v3.

    Options
    This is where the options are for SimTools v3. Plugin exports are also available from this page.

    Addons
    This is where add-ons will be displayed and accessed in SimTools v3.

    Virtual Output
    This is where you can get a visual representation of the output from SimTools v3.

    Plugin Management
    This is where you can add and remove plugins.

    Any action that is directly related to a specific game can be done under its own menu.

    Updates Available
    Click the down arrow for update options for this plugin.

    Launch Game
    If this button is white, the game is ready to be launched. If this button is gray, you need to set a launch path for the game. Double Click to launch a game.

    Remove Plugin
    Click this icon to remove the installed plugin.

    Vibe / Dash / Motion Settings
    If these buttons are red, they are temporarily disabled and will not be started when the game is launched. If these buttons are gray, it means there is no interface setup for the given section. If these buttons are white, it means the section has valid settings and the section is ready to run.


    ~ Installing Plugins ~
    Installing plugins can be done directly thru SimTools v3 in the plugin manager section of the app. Or by downloading them from the online repo system and then drag and dropping them into the main GUI for offline installation.

    You may find that some game plugins do not set a launch path for a given game plugin, or the path is setup for a different version of the game than what you’re running. To update a launch path for a game plugin, simply drag and drop the games exe or shortcut on the banner for the given game plugin.

    You can only remove plugins from the plugin manager if they are not used in the app.
    If can not remove a plugin, check that it is not assignment in the app.

    ~ GameVibe ~
    GameVibe has a few new tricks up its sleeve!
    You can, as always, create live sounds for vibe inputs.
    But now you can also trigger audio files!

    You can trigger an audio file when an input hits 0 and/or when it hits 100%. So take landing gear as an example, you can create a sound for landing gear up and one for landing gear down. And then trigger them to play with the landing gear input. (Auto de-bouncing is applied)

    You can Drag-Drop mp3 audio files directly in SimTools (main GUI) and then use them in game vibe!

    ~ GameDash ~
    To assign dash vars with v3, you use the labels for the entry, example shown circled in red.

    If little white down 'tabs' appear (you can see one on Pressure) you can select an entry to show, as the section has more than one entry. (Coolant Temp is showing it's list above)

    And 3D speed fans are now up and running.

    New Rule GetBits!
    Take Speed for example, we can now clamp, translate to bit range, and return the output we want with a single rule.

    Example: When speed input = 100
    GetBits 0 5 8 d (this means clamp between 0 to 5, get the value in 8 bit range, and return a decimal.)
    The output would be 255.
    Simple Right?


    ~ Auto Profiling ~
    For a game that supports auto-profiling, you can turn it on here!

    And it will auto select/create a profile for the vehicle currently being used in the game.

    ~ Axis Naming ~
    Something new in v3 that would be hard to know about if I didn't tell you is: Axis Naming.

    And then the names are used everywhere in the app that makes sense.
    You can even assign axis with these new names in the interface section if wanted, <Front Right> as an example.


    ~ Time Keeping ~
    You can simply turn it on, and it will record the amount of time you play each game.
    It will only count time when the game is running, not paused, and at least one interface is being used for motion (sim is running).

    After a session or two, you can spit out a report for the day, and it should add up total play time for each game.

    I'm having a little trouble getting the plugin to show up after dragging it to the main UI. I see a big download arrow when I drag it but then after I drop it nothing happens

    To be clear I'm trying to install the Forza Horizon plugins

    Existing V2 plugins do not work with V3, if that is what you mean, as v3 has a new repository section for plugins.

    All existing plugins will need to be rewritten for the V3 plugin repository system.

    I uploaded a possible fix just now, please relaunch simtools and select 'Yes' to the update (should auto update).

    Swapped from Alpha to Beta, with a little help from Yobuddy!

    I have a few questions:

    Will there be an option to 'start with windows'? I can't find one.

    What will happen to the coins or will plugins still need to be purchased?

    Great and promising work, I can see the new era for motion sim is coming.
    I had two problems:
    1. I tried registering with my DIY licence which got from my rig thread for free(year 2020), "check license" said it's valid and has been previous activated(sure I'm using on my simtools V2), after click "activate license" the window said my Email and key is invalid.
    And later I used another purchased DIY key(recently this year) and activated with no problem.
    2.All the drag bars are not working for me(like in the axis filter and interface Test Settings), I think it's because the window is a bit squished so my cursor can't grab them properly.(my resolution 1920x1080)

    Plugins come with v3, No coins are needed for v3!
    (The original price for a pro license was $69.99 + 29.99 for a 2 year plugin package = $99.98.
    The new price for the pro license will be $99.99 and comes with unlimited plugins forever. Basically we are just combining everything into a single purchase.)

    This does not make much sense to me, as they are the same licenses.
    Maybe send me your email address in private message, and I can look on the server for any problems.

    Hi Yobuddy, this happened on our showroom rig as well, V2 is working fine but V3 said it was invalid so I used another license I have and it worked. No problem with my home setup.

    It would be great if you could like V2 otherwise it will require instructions to users to do it through putting it in the startup folder
