    Hey all. Totally new here. Been inspired by Halloween2Go / DMax to build a 3DOF setup like many others. I've started to gather some of the parts and components and this will be a fun winter project for me to work on now that both of the cars that were my projects are kinda completed. Most of the things look fairly straightforward (just going to figure out the emergency breaker setup later on as I want to make sure I can stop the thing.

    Just waiting till the steel starts to show up sometime soon.

    Hi guys, I'm Adrian and I live in Brazil,

    Moving on to introduce myself only now, but I've been devouring the forum content for at least 4 months, and it was of great help to me to solve all my doubts, I would like to thank you all for the excellent content.

    My skills in electronics are basic, and in mechanics practically zero hehe (even so I managed to assemble my prototype)
    I am currently assembling the final 2DOF version in aluminum profile and waiting for some parts to arrive from the laser cut.

    Soon I'll create a topic to present my project and request tips and improvements :)

    Hello community, nice to meet you, I'm new here.
    I'm from Brazil so I don't speak English and I'll be using google translate to communicate with you and maybe some words won't be translated correctly, so I apologize if this happens.
    I would like to congratulate them for the excellent projects.
    I want to make a low cost 6DOF motion platform with 24V 82 RPM 55W motors using Arduino Uno R3 and IBT2 drivers (BTS7960).
    I'm already acquiring the necessary materials for such a project, but I have a lot of doubts about which structure to build, so I believe I'll create a new topic and ask the community for help... lol....
    The motors arrived today and I already had an arduino and an IBT2, with this I will be able to start testing the electronics.
    So I can open a new topic to start the activities.

    Two years ago I've started to design and build my own simrig. I've been inspired by a lot of DIY projects and commercial products. At first, I decided to build a static rig, but now I'm looking to add motion to it so I decided it was time to join you :)

    First time on the site...love what I see. I'm into racing and flying simulator games, have about 6 hours in an FAA approved flight simulator. I'm a garage door mechanic so I work with gear reducer motors up to 480v. Working on designing my first Sim. Lots of considerations. Cannot wait to see what everyone has done. Curious if anyone has attempted continuous rotation Simulation instead of just angular manipulation.

    Hi,
    very excited to join this forum. I am into various R&D projects inlc: , 3d modeling and printing, computer assembly, drones, programming, etc. Also have some motorsport experience with rally. As many previous joiners I have an idea to build a 6DOF simulator. I am overwelmed by amount of knowledge shared here. As much as this is probably unrealistic I'd love read it all. Starting :)

    Hi, I recently joined this forum after stumbling on it through google. I am amazed at what members here have built. So much more advanced than I imagined was possible on an affordable diy budget.

    A little about me. Many years ago I started my career in the aviation industry and during my apprenticeship I spent a few months working in the flight simulator maintenance section for an airline. The sims we had at the time were 707, 747-200/300, 747-400 and just before I left we got a Dash-8 sim. As a second year apprentice, it was a good opportunity to learn about the avionics systems in those planes and have a play without fear of breaking a real aircraft, and of course when there was some down time and the sim wasn’t booked for pilot training, I was allowed to have a fly. Ever since, I have wanted to build my own sim at home but finances and the available affordable technology at the time put that beyond my reach.

    With all the wonderful technology available these days, I thought I’d explore the possibility of building my own sim once again. Only problem is there are so many possibilities, where do you begin? So I am hoping to have some questions answered and be pointed in the right direction here. I do not have a gaming machine at the moment so I am starting from scratch.

    1. Is it possible to build a motion platform for an Xbox running MSFS 2020? I’m not interested in simulating every switch in the cockpit and a 2 or 3 DOF motion platform will be more than enough for me.

    2. If an Xbox is not suitable, what kind of specs do I need in a gaming PC to be able to run MSFS or X-Plane without experiencing performance limitations from the PC? And roughly how much would such a gaming PC cost in Australia?

    3. I would also like to play some car racing games with motion, so the sim I build will have interchangeable controls for flying/driving. Is this something people do often?

    I have many more questions but these should be enough to point me in the right direction.

    Hey all, D Max has inspired me to build my own motion sim. At first I had my doubts related to the size, until I saw his compact version. So now I am gathering the materials to start building. I have CTTR Gearbox drive units from another project lying around with a 25:1 transmission. Racing seat, steering wheel for xbox one and arduino I already own.
    Ordered the powersupplys and motor controllers this afternoon.
    And currently working on putting the design into SolidWorks. Soon I will open my own topic to post my progress.
    I do wonder if simtools works with xbox one?

    Hello All,

    New to the forum, but not new to racing simulators. I've been using a G27 since it was released, and although it's working just fine, it's time to build my own wheel. I'm following what I suspect is a pretty common DIY wheel, using a scooter motor and belt driving the steering shaft.

    I've already got my own tweaked design worked out, and I'm doing all my own machining of the chassis bits. However I've come to the point where it's time to start purchasing components, and I'm having a bit of an issue. I really want to have this setup be as updated and lag-free as possible, so it seems like the STM32 board is the way to go. Beyond that, I'm having some difficulty finding wiring diagrams specific to that board. Is there a good example of a belt drive FFB wheel based around the STM32?
