    A observation for your consideration: the levers should be at 90 degrees to the rods in the rig's level rest position. Over about a 38-40 degree deflection either side of that effective torque utilisation rapidly becomes inefficient, adding unnecessary strain on the motors.

    Thanks for the tip, I really appreciate it. I am still playing a bit with the rod mount on the arm .. it's now closest but will test with it in the middle one also. This part of the built seems so much more complex than all the other things combined.

    Thank you. I am using bedliner for paint..it's easy to apply, fairly scratch resistant and easy to touch up.

    Off to the next phase of testing. Did a tiny distance in AC but suffering from one motor that shuts down .. either its getting out of range or the IBT is overheating. Not sure what is going on yet but that's a thing to check tomorrow.

    On the plus side, the drop down projector screen and projector are doing a good job. Will move the rig closer at a later stage though.

    Do you get a sound notification on the shutdown, if so it could be a USB disconnect: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/usb-disconnects-and-port-mapping.396/

    If not it could be the board, being out of range, or a PSU shutdown.

    I don't think it's an USB disconnect, likely an out of range combination with PSU shutdown. The two front motors are on a 50A PSU and that should technically be enough though.

    Just keep in mind that our rigs generate huge PSU spikes in fast reversals, so don't presume a PSU is OK, check if it actually may be the issue.

    It lives!!! I think the issue was an out of band shut down. I changed the clip and limit settings a bit to give it more range to reverse before shutting down and I no longer have one of the arms dropping. I did 3 laps around Monaco with my favorite car (alfa 33 stradale) and couldn't get the grin of my face.

    Now it's time to fiddle with the different axis settings to get the movements just right.

    Below is my son testing a bit. This was before adding some of the other motions (and realizing surge was inverted)

    Not a lot of updates, basically fine tuning and getting the motions right to my liking. I will still need to get the bass speakers with amplifiers installed but that's a lower priority.

    The height of my ujoint has both a disadvantage and an advantage. The negative is that when power is off, the arms and motor drop outside of the max clip limits. To solve that I am going to fab up some arm stops that will mount to the bottom of the motors. It's not a hard thing to fab but something that's needed for usability.

    The plus is that it gives me plenty of room to hide and secure all the electronics on top of the bottom frame plate as seen below. It creates a really clean look and access is easy by removing the floor board.

    Like anyone really should, I did install a emergency button. You can find these on Amazon easily for not much money. It's a tiny bit big but it's easy to find the shut down if needed. It's just screwed into the frame. 20230119_124227.jpg

    The wooden blocks are the current temp solution to prevent the drop.

    Decided to get my pro license for simtools and support the developers today. I installed my front and rear haptic feedback speakers and all in all pretty easy to get working but it will take a bit to tweak and get everything all right.

    Question on simvibe. I got all the sounds but wonder if anyone has a bit of guidance on which sound waves fit best with each option .. brown with rpm? Saw with gearshift? I did the -1 to 8 gearshift tuning but there does not seem to be much information available.

    Let's see how many buttons I can fit on my second button box. Still tinkering with simvibe and trying to track down why my traction loss motor stops functioning after 3 turns or so.

    Reporting back on my rig after I have been using it for 3 months. I struggled for a while with the motors here and there getting out of range and fabricated stops for both ends the maximum range which really stopped the problem

    Here you can see the metal tube mounted to the motor being the rest stop and the little wooden dowel on the arm being the top stop. It's wood as I wanted a little give in the material if needed.

    I also found a much better solution for my sim dashboard. Using an old Kindle fire for this. The mount is a simple camera tripod extension with a tripod tablet mount. Drilled a hole in the top plate, small bolt holding it down and it's been solid.

    I am still using the 25:1 motors but they are not powerful enough for the traction loss. I will eventually upgrade them though.

    Just a note of caution, hard stops may be an issue in a runaway situation (pot or other failure). Long term it would be better to address and fix the out of range issue, which may be settings and/or inadequacy of the motors.
