I have found this motor which states that is a "MY1020 type" motor. It is 48V with 37.5 rated amps 1800W motor with rated rpm of 4500. My questions are; is this motor a good choice for a DD wheel and will it give enough torque with 24v 30 amps as that is the power supply i currently have my hands on. If not, what kind of power supply would be up to task as i live in a third world country and it is virtually impossible to find these electronic stuff locally.

Also, i know "how much torque" question mostly depends on preference but i did not use a simwheel before in my life so i do not know how much torque would feel realistic.

Just a simple question, how do you plan to connect the encoder to this motor ? You need to know the real position of the motor.

I was thinking to get the backplate and shaft drilled to insert the optical encoder directly inside the shaft with a little help from metal epoxy just to keep it in place. Since encoder does not need force to rotate, i thought it would not have any problem staying there. I got this idea from another DIY bulid where it was working probably as far as the person buliding it stated.

its a brushless motor - you may need a special type of driver

brushless motors have less torque at low rpms

Thank you for the information about brushless motors, i did not know about low torque stuff. Can you recommend a motor which i can buy online for around 100 euros? I do not know the details about dc motors so do not want to buy something that will not work or would not be up to task.
