Hi there, iam just curious what hardware you guys use for your daily PC Usage, Gaming, Sim Racing, VR, etc.

You are a low budget gamer or a high performance enthusiast ;D ?

    just want to know.

In my youth i started of course with low budget my first self purchased PC was a Pentium 1 with 150 Mhz with 8 MEGABYTE !!! RAM :D
I become an IT Guy and now in my 40s i have a very high end machine:

    Intel i9 10980XE 18Cores / 36Threats with allcore Turbo at 4.6 Ghz (max on 2 cores 4,9).
    Cooler Master 360 Aio
with an Asus X299 Prime Edition30 Mainboard
32 GB Corsair Ram 3600Mhz (quad channel)
many TB´s as storage: NVME + SSD + some HDD
    a Gainward Phantom RTX 4090
Extra Soundblaster X-Fi for clear Digital out and Simtools/Simhub

1440P ultra wide curved 35inch AOC Gaming Monitor 120Hz

Thanks , yep i started of with 386 pc and have enjoyed MSFS and simracing since its beginings , and of coarse the huge improvements in PC gaming . My early VR was Oculus and then the huge improvement to Valve Index which has up to recently been my daily driver , i also tried Pimax 8KX but kept going back to the Index , i have a Pico 4 now with kiwi clipon headphones and using Virtual Desktop i am finding this an excellent setup , great FOV , resolution and audio . For me a motionsim with good VR is Bloody Fantastic !!
    My system- i9 13900 cpu 4090 gpu 32gb ram 3t ssd , Love MSFS2020
Thanks so much for the opportunity !!

Awesone What was the issue with the pimax 8kx?
I am unsure to what hmd I should switch in the future.... The bigscreen beyond Looks awesome but with smaller fov.... And the p8max crystal is auch a brick on your head.... And has only inside out tracking and the idiotic battery in the back

Thanks , well the Pimax promised a lot but was a dissapointment in a few imortant areas , mainly tracking , if head set was removed for any reason it would loose tracking them had to be reset , but the Index was never an issue , this and size /weight made my Index by far easier to use . As for the Pico4 , its light compact and excellent lenses and FOV and with the additonal Kiwi Design headphones the audio is beaut , but my only negative is battery driven , would prefer PCVR
Hope this helps Andy in oz

Started with an 8088XT (512k, 5.25 floppy drive, EGA monitor ) and for virtual reality back in those days I used to make the "Vroom Vroom" noises myself as sound blaster was not a thing yet.

Currently (age has its benefits) I use:
AMD7900x, 64gb, dedicated m.2 drives for each major game (total of five m.2s) backed by an RTX4090.

Headset is a Pico 4 (from a reverb G2) connected via a USB-c to Ethernet adapter and power pass through charger. Virtual Desktop feeds me that sweet sweet gaming sugar.

I feel every bump via six Aura BassShakers and a HF8 gaming seat pad. And the wind blows past where my hair used to be with two 12v blower motors for simulated wind.

A diy version of the 6DoF PTActuator linear rig rocks my world (or does a reasonable facsimile thereof) .

When I was young I could barely afford to make the "Vroom Vroom" noises, now I can go full on play pretend.

Is the Pico 4 a good hmd? I have a valve index yet. aaaaand iam unsure about the bigscreen beyond because of reduced fov and the pimax crystal this thing is so bulky and has a battery.....

I very much enjoy the Pico over my G2. No experience with the other two. The Pico is significantly cheaper though.

Yes , the pico 4 is way better than all the other hmd's i have tried and owned , its clarity is even better tha 8kx plus huge sweetspot . i have really enjoyed my Index but clarity and resolution of the Pico4 means my Index just sits on the shelf !! , BTW my Kiwi Design headphones are Quest 2 ones but fit the Pico with a little tweeking
    Just love VR

Gday all , just updating , the Pico4 is even better these days using VDXR ( no steam ) . With 4090 gpu and all MSFS setting on ultra it's crisp clear and smooth plus excellent FOV !!! the headset is so light and with after market face plate it is a pleasure to use !! It runs rings around my index , 8KX , Quest2 , and value for money with performance that leaves me feeling this is bloody fantastic , for me it ticks evey box - what more could you want !!

    Hello,

A great topic on VR, I play only in VR with a Pimax 8KX, I have tried many VR headsets (Quest 2/3, Vive Pro 2, Reverb G2) and for me, the field of view of the 8Kx is just excellent.

My configuration is a bit limited and I have to make some concessions on the graphics details, my computer is equipped with a Ryzen 5 5600x, 16GB, 2*1TB NVME and an RTX 3080Ti, I will probably replace the GPU when the 4090s are more affordable on occasion.

I mainly play Assetto Corsa, AMS2 and Dirt 2, I will soon test DCS and FS2020.

Looking forward to reading you :)

Waiting for a valve deckard... I think about to get a preowned 8kx in the meanwhile... This would be the best price Situation in the Moment. Pimax crystal is dead, because they will release the core Variante without the mobile and battery shit...

    Hi,

I didn't know the Valve Deckard project, we will see if it keeps its quality promises, but currently if your computer is powerful, you can find an 8Kx at a very reasonable price, it will give you satisfaction, mine is also second-hand but had not even 1 and a half years old, I started playing without tracking station, but I recommend buying HTC Vive 1 Base Stations, otherwise the motion tracking doesn't work in depth and it feels weird. The seller took him back a crystal, he told me that it is sharper, but the field of vision is narrower, he was a little disappointed at first but like it anyway :)
