Question Newbie my servo almost moved!

    Thank you yobuddy. My prefered way is linear actuators but obviously it is and expensive option. Living on an Island i could probably find 6 truck wiper motors. I do not see any comments on the picture I posted. Can I please get your opinion? Is it almost plug and play as it seems?
    My second question is if I use wiper motors, can 6 DOF wiper motors strong enough to move a chair and a person lets say max 300 lbs? Or do I also need a gear box? According to the picture of the link you sent me it looks like it is a rod directly connected to the shaft of the wiper motor. Thank you for your help.

    They are actually 750watt servo motors (same kind of motors used on the linear actuators I believe).
    (I believe I read somewhere that he spent about half of your projected cost of the linear setup, but I could be wrong.)

    Thank you @yobuddy. I am currently traveling but when I return I will investigate where and how much I can get truck wiper motors in Aruba. I will be back in about a month. Thank you everybody. With your help I now have a much better understanding of what is involve in building a 6 DOF platform.

    Thank you Yobuddy. I had a great long trip visiting Europe. I am now spending few weeks in California before returning home in Aruba, So I will see what I could buy here for my project. During my trip I did come across an option which seems more doable for me. Odrive actuators. I found the controllers online for $89.00. I can make the tubes out of PVC in Aruba, I found Silentchill video on youtube which took me to his project on XSimulator. I can get 290KV motors but how do I search for the infinite screw and other parts I would need? Can you please send me a link to a similar project that suggest where to source material needed? Another thing I am not sure if the Odrive board can interface to Simtools. Thank you.

    I would have to search a bit on the forums to see if anyone has gotten this hardware working with SimTools, but if we need too, you could make an interface plugin for the hardware.

    Others have got Odrive working, from @SilentChill's original pioneering work until now: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/odesc-bldc-4-dof-simulator-smr-200.17306/#post-239607

    But Odrives can be finicky, on the software side and particularly with respect to the likes of requiring proper shielding.
