    HI!!!
I wanted to hop on here and get some advice from the legends here at Xsimulator. A bit about my self:
I have previously built several arcades. A Race Sim with Buttkickers and Windsim, a Digital Pinball Machine from scratch and several standup arcades. I have experience with wiring and arduinos etc.

For this build i am teaming up with a good friend of mine that has tons of experiences with small engines, welding and pretty much anything mechanical.

We picked up a plane fusalage (See Attached Picture) and want to cut it down so its not 15 feet long. We will be removing the engine and gutting anything unecessary but still want it to look like a plane. We want to build the flight sim so that the actual plane hull moves. Im not concerned with any of the software side of things but my question and need for advice would be on the Motor side of things.

Do you think that a Canadian 50:1 12v motor will be able to move the fusalage around? Any advice on which motor to get and if you think it will be able to do what i want? ill be getting a nice big u-joint and do a bunch of welding to make sure that the hull is stable and strong.

Any advice on the motor / ujoint side of things would be really appreciated! i also see some heavier duty setups that look like they have some form of shock as well as the motors. Could someone explain why they would do this and if thats something we should also consider.

Thanks SO much for litereally any input and advice. It might sound like we are biting off more than we can chew but we love a challenge!

    Thanks!

Thank you so so much. I’ve been tinkering around with sim calc. I’m just having some trouble putting the info I get into size of motor I will need. Are there any videos or posts that show a translation in how the outputs from simcalc can help me choose a motor? Trying my best to not sound like a novice lol

There is the SimCalc maths reference sheet, if that helps in understanding it better: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/simcalc-by-tim-mcguire.11277/page-2#post-140469

Cant thank you enough for your help! So in your opinion which motor would you personally go with. i can tell you are quite experienced!! Also i was going to ask, do you run a separate computer to run the motion rig or do you run it all on the same rig. I want to build this rig so that i can move it from place to place so not sure if there will always be internet so thats my concern with a network setup. Unless i can just run a network cable between both PCS

No need for an additional computer, a dual PC setup is not even supported for SimTool v3, which is currently in Beta testing.

Motor wise it really depends on what sort of rig you want to build and the mass of the fuselage plus user. Neither are clear yet from your project description.
