Heave distance to feel falling

    Hello! I searched and find one post talking about speed and time of "fall" in a specific motion platform but I'm ready to build a new 3DOF platform with heave and I have a doubt. I'm looking for the motors and I find two possible solutions:

    1) 500W 56Nm motor that can lift me and the structure if I install a 110mm lever. That brings me around 220mm of heave. (about 500€)

    2) 750W 95Nm motor that can lift me and the structure if I install a 180mm lever. That brings me around 360mm of heave. (about 750 €)

    Each of them 60 rpm.

    I conscious that normaly the rig will be around the middle point to have enough distance upside and downside to work properly. That in mind I think the mean distance of fall is half of the total heave.

    What do you recomend? Are the 360/2= 180mm of fall worth it? Will be enough with 110mm?

    With those lever lengt youre on rhe low side for a 3 dof . it gives around 50 kgf each motor 150kgf total at rated power you need minimal 2 times this force at rated power regards ad

    Thanks Noorbeast but I don't know why I can't see the SetTime profile.

    According to my calculations, consideing an estimated acceleration of 4 m/s^2 , my weight and the structure weight, that distance levers are the max limit I can use. That motors can lift and accelerate upwards 171 Kg, the 500W at 100mm lever and also 171 Kg the 750W at 170mm lever. Maybe I'm being wrong but based in the Milani Fabio 3DOF build he is using 350W motors and he say that motors can lift up to 80+50=130 Kg.

    I'll use the rig for flight sim so I think I'll don't need very fast accelerations like in sim racing.

    Oke 56nm is 560kgcm diveded bij leverlengt 11cm you get around 50kg on leverarm and with a 110/120kg load you get youre 0.4 G the motors coult get hot. When i see youre prices i think it could be whise to go for 3 aasd15a sevo sets and thanos 4 channel controller and buy youre gearboxes to Regards Ad

    Yes, I'm taking into account that I'm pushing the motors to the limit, for sure I would create different hols at different distance from the shaft to find the sweet spot between feelings and motors health, sure.

    I don't said that but the prices is for three motors, not for each.

    If money is no object then bigger is better :)))Big motors also need big power supplies.The output is at least twice that of the engine

    You may be able to use heave assist with some gas struts or springs

    I did go out from 3 motors for 750.00 euro, keep in mind that you can have one gearbox for less than 100.00 euro .You can have a minimal 5 times longer motor lifetime than a brusshed motor and a 16bit thanos controller with a lot of fetures for mayby a little more money

    Well no, as I can see is not a little bit more money, is more than twice the complete set (motors+gearbox+Controller+shipping costs), almost 2000€ and that is a budget I can't reach, 750€ is already a bit out of my limit but if it really worth it, I'll spent that money.

    I see some builds with this kind of motors, like the Milano Fabio's (who inspired me) and more (and far more expensive). I know is possible to build a 3DOF with DC motors, I also know brushless motors is best but is a leage I can't play.

    Yes, I see some solutions with springs but in builds with less powerful motors. As I can see in the Milano Fabio's build he uses 350W motors with 40Nm with 100mm levers without springs. Ï want push mines little bit further taking advance of the greatest force and if it will need spring assist, I'll install it.

    is this price also with cables /driver / controller/ feedback/ power supply , than i say nothing
    And go for it .
