UPDATE : 05/23/2024 my psus are set on 24v and they work perfect with good cooling solution

Hello I start to buy parts what i need for making 2 dof motion simulator for racing
I search FAQ and other google sites but cant find specific info about IBT2
    İ bought https://www.amazon.de/-/en/2200RPM-Stainless-Steel-Motor-XD5D90-24A121SRV-RV40/dp/B08RDHKMFR/ref=sr_1_10?crid=3HX7K3AJC8GHI&keywords=XD5d90&qid=1703854059&sprefix=xd5d90g,aps,109&sr=8-10 2 of these
    And 2 of 24v 25a 600w PSU
will ibt s work with 24v is they burn? or am i have to lover down to 12v with 24 to 12 converter?
i found a youtube vide he says that ibts are burn at 24v some1 says its hold up 27v
    mines are...

IBT2 are rated for 24v, but can be a bit fragile for some under heavy load, do consider good cooling and if it turns out to be an issue an IBT2 is pretty cheap to replace and you could consider dropping the voltage a little, but not to 12v.

I have all the electronics put in a box with the ibt at 22v with an 80mm pc fan and they don't get hot at all no matter how long they work

hi, I am also in the process of setting up my project and I am getting all the possible information on the ibt2, I would be using 24v but 1000w 40a.

I don't know how to protect your power supplies from power feedback if I ever come across this after 6-7 days of research, if it can help you.. https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/power- supply-tripping.13110/

I have tried them with thermal paste and without it, always with the fan activated, and I can't find a difference

Hello, I have had the ibts with a 12v 30amp psu and two windshield wiper motors, now I have them with a 24v 500w psu and 24v 200w wheelchair motors and I have never had any problems, in the latter case with the wiper motors I have the psu at 24v at 22v, so far that is my experience

it's rather reassuring, I'm going to put a diode because I use actuators, and the reduction is not strong enough to prevent the arms from retracting the motors off, so you never know...

I agree with you, putting a diode costs nothing and you can save yourself problems in the future.

    Hi everyone
yes be carefull to check the psu and set to minimum, on my 24v psu with the tester it gives me 27v, and then it's the death of the IBT2 which burned..

I'm turn the pot on the power supply which gives me gives 17v now.

This card is made up of 2 BTS7960 H half-bridges which can support a current of up to 43A at a voltage between 5.5V and 27V.(max!?)

    thx to @noorbeast for help

Hey guys, I can add something to this thread about IBT-2's in general. I have been using them for around 12 months (double heatsinked with thermal paste) and they go pretty good. But! I have just upgraded my 3DOF to a 4DOF and along with this change, I decided to take the plunge and get a sabretooth 2 x 32 for my vertical motors (pitch, roll , heave, surge). The difference between the performance of a sabretooth and the IBT-2 is day and night.

The data transfer on the sabretooth and the way it translates into the rig compared to the IBT-2's is staggering.
I am still using the IBT-2's for my horizontal motors, but the PID and PWM settings have to be much higher than what I need to run the sabretooth. This has meant my axis assignments in Sim Tools for the vertical motors can be halved compared to what I need to setup for good motion with the IBT-2's.

I know the price difference is hugely different between the two controllers, but believe me, the clarity and fidelity I now have on my front motors compared to when they where controlled by the IBT-2's, I just didn't realise what I was missing. Just a heads up from someone who has used both.

@Kevinski Hi yes the sabertooth are superior but after that it depends on the motor for me with my 750 watts 30 amp motors. I think I need the sabetooth twice 60 amps?

and there it's 200 € of parts plus 200 € a power supply for 2 actuators, ouch that stings

but why do they do this? with 3-4mm2 cable, these connectors are not great
    In ibt2 too..

i use awg 12 with krimp connectors , and stil hardly getting them in .. and yes connectors design for a 100 amp board is not great . had a same problem with arduino connectors , but a shield for arduin with connectors solved my problem
