First Gran Turismo 1 and 2 with Controller.
Than gt3 with driving force Gt wheel from logitech.
    Than simrig
    Than VR reverb g2
    Than Bass shaker
    Than motion and direct drive
    And finaly motion compensation..

I am know building my Upgrade from 2 dof and tl to 3dof tl and surge.. And I just sit the rig without motion just vr and Bass shaker.. And no way.. Can't go back.. Even vr without motion compensation is not joyable...

Never go back to flat even triple screen neither

Tell me please, why didn't you use four motors ?

I've got the front 2 running off 1 Uno, and the rear running off an Uno, so 2x interfaces in Simtools
Switched to belts as the pot and gearing would have interfered with the lever. 3d printed the pulleys, belts are gt2 from eBay
Gaslifts aid the motors and provide dampening

Because I wanted to try with 3, and it's adequate

    I'm already got it )
    Thanks

Can you tell something about cons and pros of using a gas struts ? Are you using it for backlash elemination or for help your motors ? Or everything together ?

Originally to aid with backlash, but the latest batch of gearboxes have hardly any. And in a 3dof configuration the gearboxes are always preloaded so backlash is never an issue IMO. I use them to aid the motors, keeps them nice and cool

Did you lose small details in motion with this struts as someone said ?

I am confused, are you using 200 or 100N?

What thickness of cable did you use for the orange resistors?

Why do you need two Arduino's if one can handle 3 motors ?

Do the limitation of the Arduino uno system chip, M1 and M2 has more options available instead of M3 by using SMC3. So to have the same config for all 3 motors it is recommended to use 2 Arduino unos.

Also they are cheap and it's easier by having it closer to the second motor driver

Awesome build early_m. Your wooden 2 DOF is the primary inspiration for my build. Have you seen Kevinski's 4 DOF with TL and surge? I was wondering what your thoughts are on heave VS surge for immersion and general fun? I have been thinking about this for a while now and will be building a 3 DOF w/ heave that uses the rear-end of 3 mobility scooters to test this further for myself but as someone that has a heave machine now, what do you think?

I've not experienced true surge or traction loss, so I can't really comment on which should be prioritised. As I play exclusively in VR with motion cancellation using pitch to simulated surge is very convincing, as it also gives the illusion of sustained gforces, which lateral surge won't do.
I have found adding true heave to be one of the best 3dof upgrades and really boost the immersive feeling of actually being in the car.

But it depends on what you mainly wish do to with your sim. For example, if you mostly drift I would expect TL to be the priority.

I see you designed several Gseats, what are your thoughts on those? I designed a Gseat as well but it is not light at all so it cant be mounted to a sim rig. It is quite powerful having 4 wheelchair motors but I find that I really need to have pitch and roll at least to "feel" right in VR. Maybe its because I built my motion rig before the Gseat...idk. How do you like Gseats for continuous force delivery? Have you tried attaching one to any of your motion sim rigs?

I think gseats are fantastic and I'm actually in the process of designing one right now that features motion that's never been seen in a gseat before, so watch this space.
