I'm from China. This 750-watt motor costs about US$50 brand new in China, US$30 second-hand, and US$14 second-hand for a 50-speed reducer. Almost all servo motors and industrial equipment in the world are produced in China.

The upgrade to make the Thrustmaster TPR force feedback is complete! Finished the last parts finally. The hollow bolts make tensioning the cable very easy. IMG_6272.jpeg IMG_6271.jpeg IMG_6274.jpeg IMG_6273.jpeg IMG_6275.jpeg IMG_6276.jpeg

@smitty This looks awesome! Have you measured, how heavy this beast (the upgraded rudder) now is? Mind sharing the CAD-files?

The motor itself is most of the weight, its 1.1kg. I have cad files in a knowledgebase thread on the vpforce discord, there is a link to that here https://vpforcecontrols.com/

I was thinking about maybe making something similar to your design in the future, and while I'm no mechanical engineer, I was thinking, if it tilts past a certain angle, won't those yellow bars (forgive my terminology) hit the cranks/bend the fastening? That may have been addressed in an earlier post and I missed it, possibly when the limits of the motor angles were being calculated. Or is it just not a problem due to the tilt not being too much for it to handle?

yes, while powered off (or e-stop that cuts power), you can grab the cockpit and move it places where the rods hit the crank arms. its at very great tilt angles like 45 degrees and extreme translations.
while powered up, the limits in flypt keep roll and pitch to +/-28deg, yaw 20deg, and XYZ translations to +/-100mm. i could possibly go more, i did not test extreme position collisions, but as you translate away from center, you lose rotation angle capability. also adding yaw+pitch can exceed the flypt limits also, so it . in all my flying/driving/crashing, the rods and cranks have never interfered.

Hey, I got a super good deal for one of these hexapods for my workshop, that I couldn't pass...

Needs a few extra bits and bolts, but yes, I love it so far!!

Rotary for the win! Small footprint, quieter, (I dont know what all that clanking is, it should be a lot quieter!)
    What ratio is the gearboxes?

It's missing a few bits and bolts...

I found it in a storage sale (owner left the country), so it's a bit beat up.

But for the $2k I paid, I also got the cockpit with several expensive items in it, even VR headset!!

It's 50:1 reduction... was using Thanos controller before..

cool! just checking on the ratio since you were doing a "speed" test and looked slow, it will definitely go faster than that.

Definitely.... after I secure the rods with proper attachments and use real motion data!! The self test of the controller is somewhat speed restricted, to avoid damage...
