Everytime I power up my aasd15 thanos 6dof motion board, my keyboard immediately stops working.

    Any ideas?

Is it a wireless keyboard ?

The servo drivers are sending out interference

no its not wireless. Do you mean EMI?

I think the point being made is that if hardware fails the most likely reason is interference.

EMI is jamming your usb communication. AASD drivers are very noisy - I had to move my DD wheel driver to the opposite side of the room !

Would running a dual pc config for simtools help combat that? I have like 7 total emi filters throughout powersupply for drivers etc..... or is it a proximity issue

firstly try a non usb keyboard if you have the older style connector
    next try a wireless keyboard
there are optoisolated usb hubs you could try also

Although this might be the cheaper solution I'd prefer fighting the cause and not the symptoms. I think it would be a good idea to stop the noise coming out of the motor drivers instead of trying to shield the USB connection or to avoid it completely.

Adding a really big EMI filter in the mains line to the drivers usually helps. The ones sold for VFDs also work for servo drivers. And don't forget to ground the rig. If the motors are mounted on a moving part ground each motor seperately. If your motor cables are longer than 1-2m shielded cable is also a good idea.

I have tried many different solutions with my DD aasd wheel, filters and optoisolated usb etc

The solution that worked best is to move them far apart as possible

ive got filters on all 3 mains 220v, filters after the switch, filter on the wall socket... hell I even have one between wall and 220v converter lol'

I guess the solution is a metal box around each device making the noise

    - ie a faraday cage

No, that's a myth. Only small fractions of the noise energy is transmitted over the air. Most of it propagates through the cables. So you have to install EMI filters to stop it. Shielding alone doesn't work. Well, it would if the faraday cage was completely closed. But drives need energy and controllers need data so you need cables that penetrate the shield.

Is there a reason why the video was deleted? Does the problem persists and what you thought the solution was actually wasn't? It would be nice to know because often people with similar problems search the forum and it's frustrating if you only find problems but no solution.
