I decided to build my 2DOF + Traction Loss platform. The whole is a fairly heavily inspired by the platform from Dofreality as you can see on the appended photos. Most work do it alone, i.e. cutting welding. Some elements have been drawn in CAD and cut out using a laser. Of course, I can share DXF files if someone needs.
I decided to use Transtecno engines exactly the EC250.240 model, these are 24V 350W (S2) engines. Each engine will be powered by a separate 24V 30A power supply and I wonder about the choice of drivers. There is a delicate problem with availability and my choice boils to MD20C or MD30C. The steering wheel is a Big Mige engine when it comes to pedals, I have a built copy of Heuskinveld. Regards, all advice is welcome. My English is not the best also sorry for any mistakes.

    Nice work :thumbs

Do you have a link for the engines used?

What pots or sensors are used and how are they mounted?

Not in this moment, im work like a driver, 2 weeks in job, 2 weeks in home, so my rig is still under construction. I be in home in next week. I have little problem with my cnc milling machine but if everything went ok it will be ready over next two weeks.

just painting today, tomorrow a trip to the shop for cutters and I'll be milling the engine levers. I will try to post some photos with progress tomorrow.

A small update, box with electronics ready, I am not quite able to set a smooth movement and properly control the engines with PID. Any changes in Ki cause nervous movements until the engines are stopped. For now I used IBT-2 because of the problem with the availability of anything else. For now, KP I have set to 130 the rest of the parameters on 0, PWMmin on 20 and PWMmax for 200, I will have to work on these settings soon. Unfortunately, unfortunately, three times breaks because I have to go to work. There is time to purchase a simtools and plugin license

I have two big problems, the first is I can not properly drive the motors and set the pid loop correctly. Sometimes they start to shake and I don't know why. The second problem is the interference from my osw. Emi noise is such that my steering wheel movement causes the platform to move. Shielded cables, I tried different ports on the computer, I physically removed the base from the platform. The glitches are still there.

You can apply for a free DIY SimTools license, see the FAQs here: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/request-a-free-diy-simtools-2-0-license.263/

Shielding sound like it needs improving, are there Ferrite Magnets used on the USB and pot cables?

    Hi
I have a problem like in the movie, when I do a test in simutils everything is ok, the movement is smooth the graphs overlap. When I start the game it is like in the video. Sometimes one of the engines stops working. I am messing with the pid settings, but I can't get the correct settings all the time. I also have a problem with interference and here I really don't know what to do. When even the car stands still, but I move the steering wheel, the platform works and even goes crazy. I have no idea what is going on. The platform is connected to a separate computer, there are ferrite filters on the cables, I used emi filters in the power supply branches, both the steering wheel and the platform. I am currently waiting for other drivers and potentiometers, for now I have home-made potentiometers based on hall sensors.

Sounds like it may be a grounding issue.

it seems to me that the problem is the gears that have quite a lot of backlash, I do not know how to get rid of it. As a result, the motors cannot determine the exact position. Hence, it probably comes from shaking. I have no idea what to do with it, I thought maybe about putting on some springs or something like that. i changed the drivers on Pololu 1455, i am trying to set them up. Now I have that at the moment when I am trying to perform the output test. I am able to move the platform once or twice and they lock up, I have no idea where the problem is

    Hello
After some time, it was time for a change in my setup. The cheap Chinese gears were replaced with SFU gears from DOF Reality. At the same time, the changes go further and a new power supply, 24V 1200W, drops in. The two drivers are replaced with Sabertooth 2x32A, which forces the use of a second arduino on the RTL.

    hello.

Could you put links to the improvements you made?
Have you noticed differences in softness?
Could you post a link to a video that uses it?
