I just don't want to change my setup that much. I'm going to try to add it to what I have.

Here are some pics of my rigs life

Think if I remove the back cabinets I can fit the actuators in there

    Nice setup already.
If you're talking about SCN5 actuators just search on SCN5 there is a lot of info in the forum.

I think this one from Seppel is a great example for you and to fit into your rig.

Awesome rig u got there Ryan, What size screens are those ?

Motion's a breeze when you understand it all. How are you planning on going motor wise ? Actuator, Gear motor, or maybe even Dbox ? Seat mover is what im thinking your wanting.

I personally went Gear motor and seat mover for the cost/size and the fact some Highly rated sim builder's Prefer their seat movers over Full frame movers.

Thanks Rinus. They are 40inch I need to go cheap. I have to much money in this. What do you recommend. I don't have enough for scn5 but want my set to move with the turns and gas/braking

Hey Ryan, I Highly suggest going the route i went, I have less than 8-900$ into the project and that was with spending a bit more than i wanted to in my Seat Frame and Miscellaneous welding.

here's my thread, have a look and see if there's a way to incorporate the motor's to your current rig, The Motor's at the end of the thread also might suite your need to keep thing's more "inboard"

    http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/2dof-diy-seat-mover.5271/

Oh and I am Extremely pleased with the gear motor's on my Rig, Couldn't really ask for much more to be honest, They are Uber fast and dont have a problem pushing my larger buddy's around. (im 150lbs, buddy's are 200+) I did have a little quirk with one of the gear boxes but when you read my thread you'll see the seller's an awesome guy and is swapping the "potentially defective" box. Currently working great however.

Ill second Nicks post. My gear motors are fast, silent, and plenty of torque. Im glad i decided against the scn5.

Ill bet you can incorporate motion in your setup for about $600-700.

I third @Nick Moxley advise for sure. I have played on SCN5 shoulder mount seat mover, and DC motors and JRKS for sure will do the same if not a better job in a smaller area needed than SCN actuators. DC motors are Fast, strong, easy to setup than SCN5, cheaper.......
JRKS maybe be a little costly, but the simplicity and the performance far out weighs any starting cost. No mucking around with them, wire up , plug them in, adjust PID and motor settings and you are off in stuff all time. No codes to check and remod.

Nick I know your post was from April but I am now ordering all my parts. My rig has evolved little . I took a pic from the back to show how much room i have on each side of the seat. I beleive I would need to remove the side cabinets. Also my seat is sitting right now on a movable sliding frame bolted to mdf board. I think I will go with the motors you suggested. In my rig, what benefits or choice would i have over 50:1 or 25:1 in my setup. Also i will not have my wheel moving. just the seat.

@bfst I have been reading different post with different rigs. You have been a big help to many. Thank you for being a kind person and helping everyone out. I sure in do time, you will have a lot to offer with my rig :)

Lastly, I would like everyone opinion, Should my set up be motor to back of seat or motor to a platform my seat sits on. Pros and cons?

I think a shoulder mount seat shaker would be a simple and effective way to add motion to your existing rig @RyanSmerdon. The pros are simple design, good movement and easily incorporated into you existing rig.

+1 Shoulder mount, You have more than enough room to fit some gear motor's in between your current side's

Difference between 25:1 or 50:1 is really personal weight, Im a little guy at 150lbs so 25:1 Other buddy's near double me so we went for 50:1's the 50's also hold their position pretty well when not powered.

For sheer reference material, here's what i ended up with for the rear angles, Angle doesn't need to be as extreme as say the SimX units with the fragile Actuators.

I'm 210lbs so i will go with the 50:1. I was looking at the 600 psu that you used. Should i go with the 700w?. I agree, I am going to go with your setup

IMO Mini Lfe's lacked big time in comparison to the Gamer 2, Luckily i scored a deal with Guitammer and Ive been rattling my brain ever since. :thumbs

Also remember the Seat mover you are only attached At One point to the base frame, Having shakers at all 4 corner's would be near impossible to feel, Part reason i favored Shakers on my Seat only, Im tempted to make a Heel plate that Doesn't Touch my CSP's at All and have that Shake too, Just haven't gotten around to it.

For PSU's i would vote for the 750's actually the Dell Poweredge 2950's. I haven't had a chance to test them under motion, But im sure they will be good. The 700's with No internal fans aren't worth the hassle imo.

go 50:1 to allow the extra, and go a bigger power supply as well. Nothing wrong with too much power on hand.
