Hi @The ORDL I have just received two of the crab puller motors from pgsaw on eBay - from Canada - and there was an extra £31 to pay for customs charges to the UK on top of your shipping costs.

There's no information about what grade the aluminium is. I suppose if you had a good amount threaded (30mm +) it would be fine.
Even if it doesn't fit or there's a problem you can fit a piece of solid bar in the end and make it work.

Im just waiting to find out what grade it is from a colleague. I use this stuff a lot with my own Ebay shop and for my personal rigs too. Im sure it will be up to the task and will look nice wrapped in carbon film!

That's another option. 12mm carbon tube is only about £15 per meter.

@insanegr they should be ok. You may have to just buy them and run them.

Hey ORDL, Curious what type of "rod ends" or "Ball joiuts" you plan on using, I went with the cheaper 10mm ebay rod ends for 11$ and turns out they aren't up to the task, Im now looking for more of an Automotive sway bar link or rod end.

As far as the tube is concerned, I just used 3/4" Steel tube, Should be able to buy 36-48" length's from your local hardware store and have the nuts welded on. But again pending your rod end setup you might go a different route for mounting.

The ball and socket style will always have wear issues. I'm not sure there is a droplink that can handle the abuse without wearing out at some stage. Metal on metal rose joints might be the most rigid but it depends on the size.

For mine I'm going to either use Automotive ball joints from the end of a wishbone or track rod ends from the steering rack to see how they go as they're readily available and not very expensive.

Out of interest Robbie are they full metal or is there any composite liner inside? Do they have to be greased?

Mine are similar and have a brass bush inside a steel outer. Mine have a little grease nipple and yes, a bit of grease smeared in would help.
The problem I found with these was not the wearing out, although that can happen, but the fact that the way they were bolted to the frame and motor levers.
If I just used a nut right against it to hold it, it seems to jam the bushes up. However, if I used a short length of pipe over the bolt and then tightened a nut against the pipe holding rod end, the rod ends moved easier and didnt wear out as fast

The liner inside is some kind of plastic, must be strong haven't worn one out in 5 years on several sims I have built.
Only use crc to stop squeaks after a lot of use, one spray all good for a while, and so on.

Sounds good. I'm having a look at hardware for my levers and seat mounts at the minute so this is all very useful.

Mine have some type of Composite strip the ball rides on and mine didn't even last 3 month's>Lots of side to side play and now developing some push and pull play.......SO either i ordered the crappiest rod ends i could find or there's something different about my setup. (more leaning towards crappy rod ends) Check your ends Rob, I would bet there's the same composite strip on the inside. Not likely its Steel On Brass.

I've found many of 10mm tie rod ends, its just a matter of picking a particular style and ordering.

No play in mine , yet. Cost me 9.90 each so not that cheap. Supplier assured me good for 200kg.
Had the cheap ones long ago lasted about 4 months - steel on brass, brass wore out quickly under strain.

Ok so i Must have gotten a poor quality set, I can buy the identical units locally for 10$ a pop but i fear they will do the exact same thing as they appear to be the same mfg.

I use the really cheap ones also, bought from Ebay. No slop at all in mine either. Probably not the same brand but I do wonder if you got a bum set.
