Joyrider cables vs pushrods

    Hi all,

    I've had a weight based joyrider working for a few years now and I'm in the process of adding power.

    I have some wiper motors mounted with chain drives to a large sprocket and lever setup, as per the BFF http://bffsimulation.com/platform3.phpplatform3.php design.

    I know Thanos used cables as have others on their Joyriders but I'm a bit perplexed as to how it is setup.
    The BBC design uses pushrods but I'm not sure it would be as effective.

    I'd appreciate anyone's ideas on this.

    The pulley - cable system thanos used allows more travel with less actual overall force

    a pulley system with cables attached to the frame is how he did it.
    The pushrod link doesnt work that you sent. However, a push rod on the corner of the frame will work well.
    either set up will depend on what size motors you plan to use, actual overall travel, what the frame will be used for , flight and or race.

    Pushrods will work and if you use wipers, you really best use best point of leverage to get the best reaction in motion.
    Refresh my memory, was the sim for flight or race?
    Also, I have done wipers and pushrods on a joyrider

    I put them on best point of leverage, being on the corner of the roll frame and at the back on my head at the pitch frame.
    Granted I only used the standard lever on the wiper, 40mm ctc I think it was.
    It moved just fine.

    Thanks for suggestions and links. This Sim is strictly for flight, I have a static one that I use for racing for the moment.

    Looking at these examples everyone's provided, especially the joyrider with the chains and directly attached to the frame, I'm surprised at the torque capabilities of the motors. Stronger than I would have thought.

    Being a self balanced setup, meaning when the sim moves of its centre it will always try and return to its centre and this actually require less torque than most setups. The neat thing about a Joyrider setup.
