    My Motion Simulator:
    2DOF, JRK
    Hi

My name is Michael and from Denmark

I trying to build a new 2dof simulator

    i have bought
    2 x JRK 12v 12
    2 x Windshield Motors 12V
    1 x power amp 220v 12v 30Amp Hope 1 is ok.?
    1 x Seat RS8

I have made a test setup "will post pictures later" and hooked it up to LFS with simtools. Work like a Charm. That made me go on with this Expensive project.

My Question is though i am more into Formula 1 Simu and i want to lay the back of the seat down so much "like Redbull playseat" so it give a real F1 effect.

Is this possible or should i keep to a more traditionel 2dof design.

Sry for my bad Sketchup design ;-)

F1 design is fine, I recall seeing a few motion sims like this, I will try to find the links later.
As for power supplies, run 2 , one may not be enough considering how hard motors get overdriven.
And earth isolate the wipers to avoid earthing.

    thanks @eaorobbie for this.

    Thank you

Will buy another one. better to be safe.

Maybe a stupid question. How do you guys earth isolate, My amp is connected to Earth,

Are just mounting a wire from earth to the housing. ?

Yes sry could written more precisly What i meant. I do already have Cut the wire and solded a cable to the brush. By Earth wire i thought i had to have a cable from AMP Ground to the housing of motor. Everything is running fine "for now"

Tomorrow im delevering the Drawing for the Welder. ;-) for the moveable platform.

that will work, but you need a heatsink on the big chip of the jrk and also you would need to cut air holes in the sides of the box. Air in - air out

very expensive yes, considering most of us usually just cut up a 2nd hand drive shaft.

Yes i know the joint is expensive. but i couldnt resist. i know this may sound weird but when i holded it in my hand it felt really good and easy to mount. I do not have any welding tools or skills. so it felt right to buy this one.

I hope i can keep this project with in limit of 600 to 700€

Today i will start creating the platform, this will mainly be built with wood. the F1 cabinet will be 60cm wide. so im guessing around 80 to 85mm will be enough. Read in another thread that it would be a good idea to have some angel from motors position to seat position. so i figure if i do it around 85cm i will a plenty of space to move motors to best position.

    Pictures of frame for platform.

Now i only need to cut plywood for the platform, also make some support where the joint is being mounted.

Dont know yet if i want to paint or put on som red or black carpet

Planning to mount these on pedals inside the cabinet. instead of moving seat back and forward i will mount the pedals on these so i can move them back and forward.

Think this might be better than moving seat and also thinking about the center wieght of joint so there want be more pressure on motors. i have at this point no idea how much weight these motors can handle.

Just found this one, an old actuator. from what i can recall its pretty slow think i will mount this on pedals so i from drivers seat can move the pedals back and forward.

Yes, it's better to move the pedals: your center of gravity will move less!
