I found out quickly that the pot brackets needs to be fixed to the motor itself so they both move together.
I this shot, the brackets are mounted like yours, but motor twists on its own brackets and pulls and pushes against pot shaft, breaking them.

I should have known after 11 builds.
    This is better,
pot moves with motor, no more breakages.

Made the cabinet this weekend, Well it turned out quite larger than i expected. :think

Will do a remake of this, Think i can cut off at least 20cm in length of cockpit.

Also got the joint shaft mounted, i think the cabinet is still quite heavy. I have my doubts the the motors can handle it.

Will test when i get home from work.

BSFT@ You wrote this in another Thread, Are the wiper motor i bought week compared to this.

    Wipermotors for a Golf III between 1990 - 1999

What are your experience in this. ?

If they can handle can it, but there are more doubts about the stability of the moving parts. In a F1 car you expect hard turns and not a wobbly jelly, so IMO if using wiper motors they will be rather overcharged. Just my thoughts :)

I Understand what you are saying, this is also my thoughts. When i Lifted the cabinet my thought were the wiper motor must perform really well or it will be a failure. The problem is when finding other motors and still want keep a low budget its not really possible if i want to import from US or Canada. Still looking for Eurodealer. ? Freight and Tax

What about winches? Cheap and strong (and loud :grin )

PS: not so loud as it would be a problem.

Would you be so kind to post a link ? I searched here in Denmark but can only find 230v but is it possible to use 230v with JRK, OR is it really a 12V motor if i tear it down. :)

I built in a winch like this one:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-2500-lb...Parts_Accessories&hash=item258e807c16&vxp=mtr

BUT! 2500lb is to0 strong (for any standard h-bridge, max current about 40A and more), the mine is 2000lb and ~30A under load, peak up to 40A. Under full load (2000lb) they could burn up to 90A but this weight will or should never be reached.

Some photos of the winches I used, but the thread is outdated and I made it differently from what I described in the posting:

winches would throw it about, and stay with 12v motors, dont try to run a 24v at 12v
and of course a JRK would move them
Going back a few steps, the frame looks heavy, wipers would struggle. You need to look at winches for that thing for sure.

In theory your wiper motors can still move it but you'll need to pivot it quite far away from the balance point.

Just an idea: why not get rid of the wood on the top and replace it with a fibreglass shell to reduce weight?

@Pit the Jrks will push your winches just as hard as the monster motor will, and maybe with a little more finer control too.
But you rig already moves well so disregard my comment. There is no race , ones just simpler.

@eaorobbie: the "race" between the jrks and the monster motos was only a silly joke, nothing else.

Well i did cut 15cm from cabinet in lenght. and mounted it again on platform. Did a little test just connected the motor direct to PSU and it ran well. So far im not worried about weight. the motors did really well.

I can lift the cabinet by my self "Without seat and steering whell offcourse".

Next time i dismount the cabinet i will try to measure the weight.

I will thou look for other motors, i can see there are many advantage with larger motors. :)
